How to make a double elimination bracket

  1. Add and seed your teams

    Enter up to 32 teams in seed order. When the count isn't a power of two, the top seeds get byes.

  2. Play the winners bracket

    Click each winner to move them on. Every loser drops into the losers bracket instead of going home.

  3. Run the losers bracket

    A second loss knocks a team out. The last team standing in the losers bracket reaches the grand final.

  4. Decide the grand final

    The winners bracket champion has no losses and the losers bracket champion has one. With the reset on, a losers-side win forces one deciding match.

Questions

What is a double elimination bracket?

A knockout where a team is only out after two losses. Losing once sends you to the losers bracket, which sends one finalist to the grand final.

What is a grand final reset?

If the losers bracket champion wins the grand final, both finalists have one loss, so a second match decides it. Switch the reset off for a single final.

How many matches does it take?

About twice as many as single elimination. 8 teams play 14 matches, plus one more if the grand final resets.

Does it fit on one page?

Yes. The Print button scales both brackets to one page, and landscape gives wide brackets more room.
