Terms of Service

Terms of Service

The rules for using the Teamwarfare League website, competitions and Discord bot.

Effective date: 15 September 2026

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Teamwarfare League website at teamwarfare.net and its partner subdomains, the competitions run on it, and the Teamwarfare League Discord application (together, the "Service"). The Service is operated by Teamwarfare League ("TWL", "we", "us"). By creating an account, joining a competition, or interacting with the Discord bot, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

1. Who May Use the Service

You must be at least 18 years old to use the Service. The games we run competitions for are rated for adults, and by creating an account you confirm that you are 18 or older. We may close any account we reasonably believe belongs to someone younger.

Accounts are created by signing in with Discord. You are responsible for everything done through your account and for keeping your Discord login secure. One person, one account: alternate or shared accounts used to evade a penalty or misrepresent a roster are not permitted.

2. The Service Is Free and Community-Run

TWL is a free, volunteer-run competitive gaming platform. There are no fees, subscriptions, purchases or prizes offered by TWL. Partner organizations that host competitions on the Service may run their own events under their own rules; those rules are published on the competition's page and apply in addition to these Terms.

3. Competition Rules and Admin Decisions

Each ladder, league and tournament publishes its own rules. By joining a competition you agree to follow its rules, the general rules linked from that competition, and the decisions of its administrators.

Competition administrators may, at their discretion: resolve or overturn match results, adjust standings or seeding, issue penalties (including "llamas", time-outs, forfeits and removals), freeze or archive teams, and remove a team or player from a competition. Administrator decisions are made in good faith to keep competition fair and are final. There is no right of appeal beyond the process, if any, published in the competition's rules.

You accept that competitive standings are inherently dependent on other players' conduct, server performance and scheduling, and that TWL does not guarantee any particular ranking, match, opponent or outcome.

4. Your Conduct

You agree not to:

  • cheat, use unauthorized game modifications, exploit bugs, or otherwise gain an unfair advantage in any match;
  • submit false scores, doctored screenshots, edited recordings or other misleading evidence;
  • impersonate another player, team or administrator, or misrepresent who is on a roster;
  • harass, threaten, discriminate against or dox other users, in match channels or anywhere else on the Service;
  • spam, advertise unrelated services, or post malicious links or files;
  • scrape, probe, overload or interfere with the Service, its API or the Discord bot, or access data you are not authorized to access;
  • use the Service for anything unlawful.

Behaviour in Discord servers where the bot operates is also subject to that server's own rules and to Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

5. Content You Submit

You keep ownership of anything you post through the Service: team names and logos, scoreboard screenshots, VOD and clip links, profile text, rule proposals, and messages in match and support channels ("Your Content").

By submitting Your Content you grant TWL a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, display, reproduce and archive it for the purpose of running the Service, including publicly displaying match results, rosters and evidence, and keeping archived match and dispute records. You confirm you have the right to post it and that it does not infringe anyone else's rights.

Match results, standings, rosters and history are public competitive records. They remain part of the archive even after an account is closed, as described in our Privacy Policy. We may remove any content that breaks these Terms or a competition's rules.

6. The Discord Bot

The TWL Discord application creates match channels, runs scheduling, map selection and score submission, archives closed match and support channels, sends onboarding messages and runs pick-up games and recruitment posts. Server owners who add the bot to their own Discord are responsible for configuring it, for their server's rules, and for telling their members that match and ticket channels are archived. What the bot reads and stores is described in our Privacy Policy.

We may change, limit or withdraw bot features at any time, and may remove the bot from a server that misuses it.

7. Third-Party Games and Services

The Service depends on third parties we do not control: Discord, the games being played, game publishers' servers, Steam, Twitch, EA and similar account providers, and our hosting providers. Their terms apply to your use of them. TWL is not affiliated with or endorsed by any game publisher, and game titles and logos belong to their respective owners.

8. Privacy

How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

9. Suspension and Termination

We may suspend or close your account, remove you from competitions, or block you from the Service if you break these Terms, a competition's rules, or the law, or if your conduct harms other users or the Service. You may stop using the Service and request account closure at any time through the contact routes in the Privacy Policy. Sections 5, 10, 11 and 12 survive termination.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, availability, accuracy of results or standings, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free. We are volunteers running a free service and do not promise any level of uptime or support.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, TWL and its administrators, volunteers and partners will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, standings, rankings, opportunity or enjoyment, arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if advised of the possibility. Because the Service is free, our total liability to you for any claim is limited to CAD $100. Nothing in these Terms limits rights that cannot be limited under the laws that apply to you.

12. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the courts of Ontario, Canada, and you consent to their jurisdiction.

13. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will change when we do, and material changes will be announced on the website or in the TWL Discord. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

14. Contact

Questions about these Terms can be sent to dox@teamwarfare.net or raised in a support ticket in the TWL Discord.
