Curious: need military personnel by state.

I was wondering...

1. How many 'bodies' does each state 'provide' the US Military as a whole? (total numbers by State)

2. What percentage of their elegible 'bodies' does each State 'provide' the US Military?

I wonder how the southern states fare vs. the old North.

It doesn't matter, some state has bigger population than other, therefore, they have more National Guard members to provide for national military mission.

90% of national guard units in my state deployed oversea and homeland security since 9/11, more than any state in the nation.

It doesn't matter, if people want to join the military then go for it. We don't make anybody join the military against their will.

US military DO NOT force each state to have an obligation to provide them able bodies for military service. But they can ask each state to provide them with National Guard and Reservists for military mission.

Edit: US military gets their recruits from advertising campaign in every part of America and other commonwealth places (Puerto Rico, Guam, etc.)

Oh, no, not at all.

I just wonder if, proportionally, more Northeners volunteer or if more Southerners join...

If more there are more Northeners proportionally, is is because the South feels disenfranchised?

Or if the South has more bodies, is it because employment prospects in the South are poor?

Or if the SOuth 'wins', is it because they just like violence more?

Those are secondary and terciary questions.

I have never seen stats on my original questions, but I know someone must 'have' them.

Jack, I cant see why you misunderstand Aria's question. It's pretty simple.

All he wants to know is the relative proportion of the numbers of soldiers from any given state.

I would wager that the south does have more soldiers in the current army. The south in general has alot more poorer small towns, and the military is a good way to get a good start.

I dunno but they're disproportionately dark and poor.

25% of US population is make up of color people, 35% of US military is make up of color people. Here are some of the reasons:

1)Job opportunity and job training
2)Less discrimination


You have to remember that today's military is a volunteer military, so nobody force anybody to join against their will. But over all, most combat armed (infantry, special ops, artillery, etc.) are hold by white men more than any other group, proportional speaking anyway.

Vietnam War on the other hand was a sucky one because they drafted way too many black men and the number of drafted black men was disproportion to US population
