Windows Unable to Activate - Need help ASAP

A computer I ran several clean-up type programs on is now having problems booting up. When booting up a message comes up saying that windows needs to be activated. This is unusual and is the second time it has come up - the first was a year ago when we installed WindowsXP Pro. An option is to "Activate now over the Internet" - that one was chosen. Then it says it can not activate.

Given the option to do it by phone.. well.. I do not want to do this because I have no idea if this is a "good" copy of Windows if you get what I mean.

I ran several programs;

A. Ad-Ware 6 from LAVASOFTUSA.COM - This program gets rid of spyware, ad-ware, etc.

B. Tuneup Utilities from Downloads.com - This program cleans your registry, and performs other maintence things

Any ideas?

I had the same problem once with XP PRO from running similar programs. XP has a rollback feature in it, just rollback to the day before you ran the programs last.
Or better yet. Write a letter to M$ about their shitty anti-piracy programs, and either get an XP disc from before SP1 or get Linux, or buy windows instead of copying your friends.

2 possiblilties here....you have an Old (ie: M$ knows it's compromised) key for your ISO of XP BAD Naut...do the right thing...get a better key

OR
You have reached the reinstall limit on that copy of XP and need to contact M$ support for a new activation code.

this is why i wont use XP. I have 7 pc's at home and will not buy 7 copies of any software (except T2) so me and the kids can have a great experience.

I own 1 legal copy of windows 2k and have no issues. XP sucks anyway, it is way overated.
LOL SPoken like a true non-XP user.

I am runnin XP Pro Corp and it absolutely rocks.

Stable, fast, easy to use. It's hard to believe it actually came from M$.
