I bought the Asus RT-AC68U a few weeks ago, and have been very pleased with it.
The only thing I don't like about it is...I'm a little paranoid about wanting to shut the wireless radios off when I'm not at home, so I use the button on the side to switch off the radios. The button press doesn't always register - sometimes I have to push it multiple times, or press on it really hard to turn it on or off. Not a huge deal, just the only thing I've noticed about it.
Otherwise, it's great so far.
The price difference at Fry's between the 1750ac (RT-AC66U) and the 1900ac (RT-AC68U) was so minimal I just went with the later one with the faster chipset in it. I think I paid maybe another $30 or so to get the 68 over the 66.
why do you have to switch them off?
Even though I have the wireless locked down with the highest level of encryption and a MAC level access list, I'm just paranoid, and wouldn't want anybody ever connecting to it while I'm not there.
When I'm there, I turn the radios on so I can connect my iPhone or laptop. But when I'm not there, I just prefer to switch the radios off so I know nobody else can connect while I'm not there.
