Pictars of your Stompin' Grounds

The hiking boots thread made me wonder, what does it look like where the rest of you jokers live? Cobalt mentioned the catskills, and having never seen them, I googled the shit out of them. Very pretty place, much different from the extreme landscape I come from.

So I say your stomping grounds are 50 miles in any direction from where you live. Take pics, upload them here. I, and I'm sure other here would be interested in seeing something new.

I'll be back to post some pics, just heading out for a bike ride. Someone else start this shit off.
not mine ( LAX, WI )

I was looking through all my cellphone photos and realized... I only take closeup shots of stuff, mostly what I BBQ

But here is one that belongs in this thread.

Took this at the USS Yorktown, I ride my bike from my house through downtown Charleston over the bridge in the background. It's a nice ride, I'll take a picture from on top of the bridge next time I go.
If you want pictures I've taken myself, I'll take this down and post them after I take a few. It's hard to get a good long range shot of the terrain unless you climb up a "big" (for central Alabama) mountain or are in a plane because there are trees everywhere and we don't have many mountains; just a bunch of rolling hills.

While larger than your defined area, I consider this to be my "stomping grounds".

All in east central Alabama:

Where I currently live. Birmingham.

Where I grew up. Alexander City.

The lake by the town I grew up in. Lake Martin.

speaking of bike rides. riding around manhattan is such a good ride. with a mix of the greenways and city streets, it's an un-paralleled view of the city from a vantage point that is both immersive, fast enough to see a lot but slow enough to be able to absorb a lot.

my best rides have ben 20-40 mile rides throughout nyc.

The right is more virtuous than the left. They have twice as many virtues because they have double the standards.

I don't have any recent or even landscape pictures, so none are "mine". That said, of all the places I've ever been on Earth (thus far), Yellow Springs, OH is this liberal hippie's favorite place on the planet.

Yes I've seen him, multiple times. No, I've never been "that guy" and approached him. He actually owns a shit ton of downtown YS.

We were hiking towards a rock called Tripod Rock... along the trail, there's a spot where you can see the Manhattan Skyline... about 50 or so miles away from the city.

Great thread idea BTW..........most of you guys live in some amazing places.

Here is my current stomping ground..........I live right next to the Trona Pinnacles. Which is on the entrance into Death Valley.

This is where I grew up in Northern California........

No wonder I get so home sick........

This is about 30 miles SE of here.

This pic is eerily similar to snakes.

I want to see the redwoods bad =(
I'm from North West Arkansas. It's no understatement when they say its an outdoors-man's(aka country boy) paradise. What's nice is that these places aren't very hard to access. You can drive just about any direction (except west.. Oklahoma =< ) and the scenery is pretty good.
The first is Hawksbill Crag near the Buffalo River (see below), and the second is the Crystal Bridges museum aka Walton art museum.

The Buffalo River / Ozark National forest. What's also pretty cool is that they introduced elk to part of the area years ago and they blossomed. On parts of the northern buffalo its fairly routine to be floating and see elk.

Any ways.. have several other places I can throw up but these are a few worth mentioning.

edit- Buck lol that does look verrry similar to things around here.

I think I know which one, but there are like 3 other choices.

I have been to all those places plus Cleveland. Man Cleveland is a shit hole. Ohio is a nice mix of pure crap holes and picturesque country side. If I had to visit or live in one of those cities it would be Philly first, then Baltimore, then Chicago, and I would probably climb the fence into Mexico before living in Cleveland or Detroit.

Also, Bibi lied. First doesn't live there, he visited that spot. Second, anyone who watched the Sopranos knows what North Jersey looks like

I remember my first visit to Stamford, and how the locals pronounced it...

Steeyahmfuhd

Only place I've ever visited that had Ferraris parked at the lacrosse field...and they belonged to the students!

I currently live in a town so depressing and ugly outside of pittsburgh that it's not worth pictures

Though my old stomping grounds that I still travel to frequent with friends. most of these are not by me.

(this one is actually one of our engagement photos taken by a friend at the Duck pond seen above.)

For those still wondering where the hell this is,

Here's a video a friend-of-a-friend, who is a film student, put together, highlighting our nightlife in Tulsa (or lack thereof).

Not all of Cleveland is a shithole, just most of it is. There are some spots that are real nice.
