Regardless of any truth behind it. (I wouldn't go this far, altho I do think this war is illegal) the people of Iran are getting a dangerous picture of the US from their media..

http://www.wnd.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=31959

You can't really blame them.. Arab media is continiously broadcasting stories like these:

I want to be a doctor, but how can I without hands?

>> PICTURE <<

"ALI Ismael Abbas, 12, was fast asleep when war shattered his life.

A missile obliterated his home and most of his family, leaving him orphaned, badly burned and blowing off both his arms, the Daily Mirror correspondent in the Iraqi capital told his story Tuesday, April 8.

With tears running down his face he asked: "Can you help get my arms back? Do you think the doctors can get me another pair of hands? If I don't get a pair of hands I will commit suicide.

Shows you.. just because we see a few Iraqis dance in the street and armwrestling a GI Joe it's still a tricky situation Post-Saddam..

/me wonders where this all will lead..

Please remove the picture and provide a link. If you don't the admins will for you.

EDIT: You might also want to check out these pictures and then tell me why we should have left Saddam in power in Iraq.

dude, I didn't post that as MY opinion... I posted that because that's what they see in Iran and Syria.. so no need to post counter-piccies towards me..

Plus I took out the pic of Ali, but I seen other pics being posted.. was this pic a little too realistic for you?

Most terrorists target America becasue we are #1. Iraq is like #243 so they aren't a target.
but saddam is so evil, you would think the whole "muslim extremist" world would do everything to get rid of him.He has killed more muslims then the US.

You forget that these kind of regimes use religion as a weapon.. people believe their leaders are holy.. hence why Saddam can actually offer the suicide bombers a place in heaven.

Ah I see. I though you posted the link, then posted the picture to show the horrors of war. I find the picture macabre and I'd rather not have it staring at me. I already accept that war has bad consequences.

The deal is, neither of us know how much of the population over there is lapping up these kinds of lies. Heck, we have a portion of our population who share these same sentiments (i.e. Bush is a war criminal, war for oil, blah, blah, blah) and our people have it pretty good.

Maybe when Iraq becomes the crowning jewel of the middle east as they remain a Muslim and Arab majority, we will win more and more people over to the "perhaps we shouldn't slaughter ALL infidels" side.

Not true, Saudi Arabia isn't lead by extremists... in fact, to a certain point the Saudis are helping the Allied forces. The people of Saudi Arabia are more against the war, but not to the extend of Iraq, Iran or Syria.

There ARE decent countries in the Gulf you know.. people make the mistake of seeing the entire Gulf as a breeding-spot for terrorism, but thats just simply not true.

you think?

arabs hate each other, man...they trust no-1.
that bullshit about a Muslim "brotherhood is empty talk". It really is. The truth is, the arab as a civilizations is quite fractured.

It only *feels* like they all hate the USA cuz of 9/11. Not all do. Not most, even.

They dislike their situation. They can't blame their own governments...why? It is easier to make the population hate others outside the country than to effect actuial change in the population's conditions.

Isn't funny that all arab countries are governed by Arabs? That a good chunk of the world's oil is in their own hands? And they lead some of the shitiest lives?

Standards of living can be compared to Africa's in some places...yet the MIddle East has a lot of Oil. What gives?

Arabs taking adavantage of other Arabs...that's what.

Do the match: Barrels of Oil produced per year X dollars per barrel = rough estimate of $$ available to these countries **where the oil industry is nationalized, mind you**

The Arab civilization is sucking right now. In the future, it might be us, or the Chinese...we all get a turn at the bottom of the Totem Pole!!!

Many Arabs were rooting for Saddam simply because they wanted America to get their comeupance (as was France and some of the American anti-war crowd). It was disheartening and probably frightening for them to realize that their military might is not match for ours, not even close.

Again, maybe it'll make them pause a moment and think "maybe we shouldn't be trying to pick a fight with these fellers".

I like the "Clash of Civilizations". Oldie, but good.

Exactly. And Islam isnt the religion there nor do they teach hate and death to their own children
sadaam killed more people in his reighn of terror than we did in our march for liberation. nobodys perfect, and any smart person in iraq would have gotten the hell outta baghdad on the first night we bombed it.
exactly trap. And dont forget that Saddam has murded before and blamed us like he did in teh gulf war. I would bet a lot of civilian deaths were caused by the Iraqi army.

Actually, there is no solid proof it was a US bomb that injured that child. It very well could have been an IRAQ SAM that malfunctioned OR ran out of fuel and came back down.

And Leonides, post but don't flame. The only one having a flaming contest in this thread is you...thanks.

Funny that you should draw the comparison of Bush to Hitler since its been a shameful historical fact which the Bush family would love to hide, that the Bush's got rich selling munitions, fuel, even technology to the Nazis during WWII. Look up I G Farben ( the company no longer exists under that name... instead it split up and became the four major German corporations: Bayer, Hoechst, Agfa and BASF).

Along with the Rockefellers (Standard Oil, Chase Manhattan Bank), Mellons (Gulf Oil, Alcoa Aluminum), DuPonts (DuPont Chemicals), General Motors and Henry Ford, banks and shipping companies operated by the Bush family were crucial players in setting up the industrial power behind the Third Reich. These companies poured hundreds of millions of dollars into IG Farben and provided it with technology for tactically-essential synthetic materials-while withholding the same materials and patents from the US government.

The Rockefeller family, long aligned with the Bushes, owned Standard Oil. Through a stock transfer they became half owners of Germany's IG Farben with Farben likewise owning almost half of Standard Oil.

here's an informative little flash movie which gives some background on the Bush-Hitler connection:
http://www.takebackthemedia.com/bushnonazi.html

That is why I had to laugh when Bush announced that "anyone who commits acts of terrorism must be brought to justice" ... I guess 'ol Georgie gave himself (and his family) a good ol presidential pardon on that one.
Mr Nice. You crack me up. People all make mistakes and we learn from them. Clinton has made more than any president. Next you will be saying that my ancestors threw a rock and killed your ancestors and you are now entitled to something. Give me a break. History is exactly what its called. Bush wasnt the one dealing with Germany. Maybe you should contact JOHN EDWARDS and see if you can discuss it with Bushs dead family.
So you are also being contradictive to your liberal views then. Because you are generalizing. I thought liberals hated generalizations. How funny. So you are saying that anyone who is somehow connected to a person in the past that did a bad thing is now guilty by association. LMAO. Good one.

Mis-take - An error or fault resulting from defective judgment, deficient knowledge, or carelessness.
So I guess George Bush sr (you know.. US ex-president) and his father can blame funding Hitler's Nazi war machine on carelessness or perhaps deficient knowledge? Or is it just that you feel Hitler wasn't such a bad guy, he just made some mistakes? Both my parents spent time in Auschwitz when they were little kids, tell THEM that what they went through was a result of defective judgment by the Bush family. No matter how you try to justify it, the fact remains plain and simple, Bush is not sending innocent Americans to die for "the benefit of the Iraqi people" or to "protect the world from weapons of mass destruction", he's blatantly sending Americans (and Brits) to die for his oil interests.
And regarding your comments about "my liberal views" ... my views are nothing more than my heartfelt opinions based on my skeptical perception of current world events. I don't subscribe to specific political factions, I just know when I see the things Bush is doing and saying, my bullshit detector goes way off the chart.
btw, I predicted this very situation ( bush invading Iraq )in a post before he was even attacking Afghanistan, and so many people were telling me I was an idiot and a conspiracy nut.
You are way off base. My family also suffered. But you are making very dumb acusations.

what will be funny is when bush continues to do what he says. You will keep sticking your foot in your mouth then.

Hopefully you will lose the the hate you have. I would bet to say your ancestors have committed murderous and horrific crimes long, long ago. All our relatives have. But to hold anyone accountable for the past is 100% laughable.
And Mr. Nice since you are ignorant or not aware of some of the facts. Let me help you out there bro.

1..We could have had teh oil in 91 and didnt. We also prove daily that every point you have made is wrong.

2..WMD have been found.

3..Saddam is as bad as hitler. So by your own admission you say that we should have done nothing and let another million people die by saddams hand. That is truly sickening in my opinion.

4..Show me any facts or proof you have to back any of your claims that this is for oil, not for WMD and not to help the Iraqi people.

I would bet you cant provide anything. Goodluck though

saddam is a two bit criminal compared to the atrocities that hitler commited. to my knowledge the only tyrants to equal or exceed his deeds are stalin and pol pot.

to say our leader is hitler is foolish. I dont like the guy at all and think he is a horrible leader in an era where the US has greater global influence now than ever before. I dont believe he is evil tho. or hell bent on personal gain.
