New Reason for the High Malpractice Costs: Lawyers are Douchebags

Moral of the story, hospitals are having their malpractice costs drop because, instead of taking the advice of their lawyers and deny everything, they acknowledge when they fuck up and apologize for it, as well as providing reasonable compensation for the fact that someone just took out the wrong organ. Proof that being a human being can sometimes be profitable.

Now all we need is insurance companies to start allowing treatment that their clients paid for, then the utopia will be complete.

No John Edwards made a ton of money on malpractice suits.

Many medical professionals are upset that Sen. John Kerry has selected Senator John Edwards as his running mate. They shouldn't be.

Doctors often view malpractice lawyers as a threat to their profession - a threat so grave it outweighs any other virtues that the Democratic ticket might have. They are thus concerned that Edwards was a trial lawyer - and in particular, a medical malpractice plaintiffs' lawyer - and is supported by trial lawyers. They are also concerned because some of the cases Edwards brought decades ago have turned out, in retrospect, to be meritless.

He's a dirty blood-sucking lawyer.

But he has a nice hair-do

No, because he was a malpractice attorney or didnt you know that? I don't think you did to be honest
This is a policy of running out and getting patients to sign wavers from future suits.

Quickly run at them with an apology and money and get them to sign away future action.

Lawyers will eventually break this policy by saying patients are agreeing to funds before they know the full consequences of their injuries and things will be right back where they are.

Of course I knew that, it was a huge part of the campaign (positive and negative). But it has fuckall to do with the article, it was a cheap shot for absolutely no reason, hence my comment.
