My gawd...that's a lot of damn cash for that dude. If his last name was Clinton; well, I think that we wouldn't raise an eyebrow as to the probable shady source of such funds...but Ron Paul? Who the hell is giving this guy all that money?!!

I would vote for Ron Paul. He is the ONLY True Republican running for Prez. Hell, he is probably the only one that makes any sense on either side!!!

Ever read the book? It's so much better than the movie.

Anyhow, the people giving this money are just average joes. Regular people who are sick of the bullshit that is modern American politics. They are people like me who believe the answer to 1984 is 1776.

It really doesn't seem to make much sense to give all this money to Ron Paul so he can get elected, and try to get the government not to do anything.

Another thought on Ron Paul's 'small goverment' plans. That's all fine and dandy, but, congress can still enact whatever laws they want, and the executive branch is constitutionally bound to 'execute' them.

I hope his devotion to the constitution includes doing his job, even if he does not like the laws he is to enforce. Surely he would not engage is "signing statement" shennanigans like Chush/Beney?

Remember, remember the Fifth of November,
The Gunpowder Treason and Plot,
I know of no reason
Why Gunpowder Treason
Should ever be forgot.
Guy Fawkes, Guy Fawkes, t'was his intent
To blow up King and Parli'ment.
Three-score barrels of powder below
To prove old England's overthrow;
By God's providence he was catch'd
With a dark lantern and burning match.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, let the bells ring.
Holloa boys, holloa boys, God save the King!

I agree with that as well. As we continue to have larger and larger populations, its tough to keep gov't small. 30 years ago was one thing. Today, you can't have the same size gov't as you did then because the population explosion
Where exactly is the correlation between population and size of government? Our government should be a fraction of the size it is right now.

Yes I am sure, because Clinton is the only politician to have shady dealings when it comes to raising money.

It's not that he's trying not to get the government to do anything, it's that he's trying to get the government to act within the scope defined by the Constitution.

Who do you think originated the 'B-b-b-b-b-b-but Clinton!' that Digm trademarked? He seems to think it is an acceptable alternative to a cogent thought.

Well I gave him some credit (personally) when he said he votes for the best "canidate" at local levels regardless of which party they represent. Yet, I haven't seen him bash a republican, only Dems. Thats fine, but we all know both parties deserve it equally. So to me, it calls into question his credibility; kind of like Snake claiming to be a "Centrist" of sorts. It's become the party above the country mentality with both camps.

Of course, the same article shows Obama with his hand over his heart in other events.

Not to mention, if you go to any sporting event, a large percentage of the crowd does not put their hand over their heart during the anthem, and even fewer actually know the words.

And lastly, perhaps we should look at his record of public service as a real measure of his patriotism, and not focus so much on an incident where he did not put his hand over his heart, and that he does not wear flag jewelry on his suits......

It states he doesnt put his hand over his heart at other events as well. Now since this is not only about respecting our flag and our military, it shows me he doesnt stand for much again if he can't be consistent in what he does. That worries me

Are you serious? This country has so many problems the least of our concerns should be whether or not a presidential hopefull puts his hand on his heart during the pledge. Something like this doesn't mean jack shit in the grand scheme of things.

I have read the article twice, and all it says is that sometimes he does, and sometimes he doesn't - which puts him at about the same level as the average american. Should he be more consistent? Sure. Is this one inconsistency indicative of an anti-military/anti-american mindset - very, very doubtful.

Im not saying he is anti-military. But it certainly worries me. Since our enemies and allies take note on how we do things I would have figured a guy running for the most important office in the world would keep this in mind. Its just a redflag right now. I hope I am wrong.

I see what you are saying, but I think you might be reading a bit too much into it. Reviewing his positions on homeland security, international relations, and the military seem to indicate that his views are mainstream.

However, as we all know, the proper thing to do would be for him to join the Green Party

All anyone knows about anyone on these forums is by what we post, and you post more than most. So for you to say I dont' know you, your right, I don't know you personally. However, your posts give everyone a very good idea who you are. You can pretend and fake it, but you've posted far too long to be pulling off a schtick. So could I point you out in a crowd? No, but I could spot a post of yours a mile away on these forums without your name being attached to it. You think I'm "slamming" you? I merely pointed out that your persona on TWL GF is that you are a die hard republican, not as you claimed, a "slightly right of center". Sorry if you took offense to that. As far as respect goes, I give you far more than others do or for that matter, what you give to others. If I'm wrong about this, I'll man up and apologize. But I am sure most are going to agree with me and so will your ban record.

He isn't going to win, sorry He would have a better chance running as a democrat . The GOP would never allow him to happen.
Good to see this. I like Ron Paul a lot better than any other candidates the Republicans have put forth so far.

this is good news.

no more neo-cons presidents pretending to be republicans and the social democrats will take notice of this too.

many people in America are sick and tired of the federal govt sticking their collective noses in everyones personal business.

i for one, will be voting for him and i know it wont count. even if i were to vote for the most popular neo-con pres, it still wouldnt count only because i live in the peoples republic of Mexifornia where, we always vote social democrat, so my votes never count anyways.

still makes me feel good though.
