is there a big difference b/t PC-1600 and PC-800. is it worth the price to upgrade to 1600 or is 1GB PC800 enough. also these are RDRAMM i thought the best was DDR. i dont knwo toomuch about this stuff.

the higher the number the faster the ram is. Also DDR is, imho, the best.

SDRAM- single density ram
DDRAM- Double density ram
I have 512 PC2100 DDR. It may depend on your MOBO though. I know that you cant put sdram in a mobo equiped for ddram and vice versa.

alienware doesnt have DDRAM. so what is RDRAM

The numbers in PC800 and PC1600 RDRAM do not mean the same thing as the numbers in PC2100 DDR RAM.

For RDRAM, the number is Mhz
For DDR, the number is MB/s

You cannot make a comparison there.

With that said, The kind of RAM you can use is 100% dependent on your motherboard. A motherboard either has support for RDRAM or DDR RAM. Not both.

RDRAM = RAMBUS

pc1600 can handle way more data into the same pipeline at the same time....
