Here is a deal on speakers that cost less than the price of their drivers ($595 shipped):
http://www.morelusa.com/home/mlp-403-5.htm

The 3 drivers alone without the cabinet or crossover would cost over $500. These are the drivers you see in $3k-10k speakers, like Merlin, Green Mountain, Calix, etc... As a comparison, Bose drivers cost about $4 a piece.

Also, Dennis Murphy has designed another crossover for this speaker that is simply awesome. I will email info to anyone who is interested.
or you could get these for a nice low price

only $19,000.00 USD for the pair.

you might need a sub to go with those.

do you have a good amp to run them?

Well, I guess thats sorta funny...

Heres some other speakers that use the same drivers as the $600/pr Morel:

Calix $67,500 (uses the same midrange)
http://www.morelusa.com/reviews/calix0603/Calix01.html

Merlin VSM $4500 (uses the same tweeter)
http://www.soundstage.com/rise11.htm

GMA Callisto $2300 (same tweeter)
http://www.greenmountainaudio.com/pdf/GMACallisto.pdf

Anyway, its a killer deal on speakers for
those that can appreciate it

They are rather sensitive (90db), so 30watts of clean power actually does the trick nicely.

They play flat down to 39hz, so a sub isn't necessary for music, but definately helpful for Home Theater.

btw, I have 5 of these for a music/HT combo. I'm using the Pioneer Elite 45tx and a Phillips 963sa. It is an incredible system for the money.

i had to get a quote for a customer, he had a pair of carver amazing loudspeaker with ribbons on his carver amp, and a pair of duntech's on some other amp i don't remember the name. he also had a pair of custom made subs, 15" speaker in 4'w X 3'd X 2'h cabinets run by an adcom amp. the guy was a bit of an audiophile. i thought all this was crazy until on of my project managers told me about this chinese doctor client of his, the guy lived with mom & dad and liked to spend money. this is no shit, he spent $300,000.00 on a pair of speakers and $180,000.00 on the 2 amps to run them. and what did he need all this power for you may ask?? KARAOKE, omfg, talk about more money than brains, the cabling was like $60,000.00, just fukn nutty. and i thought my onkyo system was good.
I guess cost is all relative.

For me, its always been about SAVING as much money as possible and still hitting that point of diminishing returns. I've been buying and selling audio for 3 years:

The Morels put a stop to that. I'm finally there!

We have a pair of those in our house on a Krell Amp.

Ovation sells the finest equipment around here. A little on the pricy side, but you get what you pay for.

i totally agree, i still have an old pair of 200w uglier than shit Sansui's with 14" subs, 2 horns, 8" mids and some kinda super tweeters with an old 1978 sansui amp, no bells and whistles and it still sounds better than a lot of todays systems, a way richer sound.

Are you in Indianapolis?

I used to buy from Ovation in Indy, go back, trade up, repeat. Did that from 1990-1995 until I left that god forsaken town
Indianapolis is a great town...
Maybe if you like to hang out in malls with fat people.

Are there two Indianapolis? Because I was there at one of them this past summer for a couple of days and I have to say its a hole, imho.

lol, Indy sucks. I was born and grew up there and couldn't wait to leave.
It's all in the name.

Born there, currently living in Vincennes for college.

Although, if you're 21, Indy isn't all that bad. Great pubs and bars. However, I am not 21.
