New Ps3 owner here - networking help

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2012-03-10 · 4 posts
Purchased myself a brand spanking new 80GB Ps3 yesterday. It looks like Resistance 2 will have great competative online play, so I am going to grab myself a copy when it becomes available.

I have cable internet connected to one PC. I have a used router that was donated to me. The ps3 is in a seperate room.

Should I bother hooking up my ps3 via a cable? Or should I invest in a wireless router? Also, where can I pick up alot of ethernet cable for cheap?

I never set up a network before so I am new at this game.

your best connection will be the hardwired connection, from a X-box 360 point of view it all works best with everything together in the same room.
As a former Senior admin Here in The X-Box 360 games I have to ask..... WTF Happened to this Section ?
For the gaming aspect i had no issues with my wireless G connection.. but when i used PS3 media server to stream transcoded movies I encountered some latency issues. I wired it up using the gigabit connection and a new gigabit router. Problem was solved.
