Duel Q & A

This was a news post a few weeks ago. Please familiarize yourself with these concepts as it will make our ladder far more successful.

If you can think of additional questions, please post them in this thread.

---------------------------------------

Q: Can I have two duels going at once?
A: No, one at a time in the system. If you and your opponents duel and report losses quickly it is possible to have multiple matches in the system in the same day. But not simultaneously.

Q: Sammy232 and I are in IRC right now and we want to duel. Will this count?
A: No, not unless you have a match in progress in the TWL system with Sammy232.

Q: Do the TWL servers auto report the results of the match? How do I report the results?
A: No, they do not auto report the results of the match. The loser of the duel should report the loss in the TeamWarfare system. This is a very simple process - clicking the "Report Loss" link inside your admin panel. (The admin panel is the 'admin' link on the main page in the Player Competition section).

Q: I've been challeneged, now what?
A: Go to your player admin panel (the 'admin' link on the main TeamWarfare.com page in the player competition section) and accept the challenge. You will be prompted to select two dates and times. The attacker will then pick from one of these two dates and times and your match will be scheduled.

Q: I attacked him and he accepted the challenge, now what?
A: You must select one of the two dates/times that were chosen by your opponent in the same admin screen. Once you do this your match is set.

Q: Is there a time limit to accepting matches and the attacker selecting one of the two dates?
A: Yes, 48 hours. After 48 hours the player is flagged in the system for admin forfeit. You do not want to be forfeitted by an admin, it results in a 33% loss of rungs on the ladder. (So if you were #10, you might drop to #25 or so).

Q: I am unhappy with this date/time or my random map selection.
A: If you mutually agree with your opponent, you can play any map you want at any date/time you want. Please post this agreement in the match comms.

Q: Match comms, match comms, match comms. What are match comms?!
A: Match communications are like a private message board between you and your opponent. You can add match communications in your admin panel. They are very useful, so please use them.

On a final note, please read the rules. These rules also contain passwords to the TWL Duel servers. It is vital that you read and understand them to avoid confusion.

In a couple of weeks I'm sure everything will be running smoothly, after a couple of matches you should have a decent understanding of how the system works.

The ladder admins are HOAX and ]M[atchstick. Like you, they are learning the system. So if you have any problems/disputes with your match, it is best to send or CC all three of us the email. tysoft@teamwarfare.com , hoax@teamwarfare.com, matchstick@teamwarfare.com .

And last but not least, I made a mistake. In the rules I said that player score should be reported in the system, not team score. It is the opposite, when the loser reports the loss and the system prompts you for the score, please enter the final TEAM score of the match, not player score. Many thanks go to MAYHEM of TribesAA.com fame for pointing this out.

Again, please read the duel rules. One point to note is that deployable turrets are banned from use. Why anyone would use these in a duel, I don't know - but they won't, because they are illegal. Deployable turret kills are logged by AADS
