Major changes for Season 2:

1. SL Spawn only is off, so you can spawn on anyone (recent founder vote was very strong on this)
2. 6 week season, 3 week playoffs

Things to improve from last season:
Ensuring schedules are out no later than Thursday night

Things I really liked from last season:
Week to week power matching, unless you've previously played the team

I need your input on map selection (feel free to give input on size if thats been an issue from s1/ladders):

Caspian Border
Damavand Peak
Grand Bazaar
Gulf of Oman
Kharg Island
Noshahar Canals
Operation Firestorm
Operation Metro
Seine Crossing
Sharqi Peninsula
Strike at Karkand
Wake Island

Metro has always been a preseason map it seems like. I've gotten a ton of hate email about that map, and I've only ever seen one team that has wanted to play it. Alot of complaints about Firestorm too (but ultimately, its whatever the community wants)

Karkand
Tehran
Damavand
Seine
Kharg
Bazaar
Sharqi

I've had decent feedback on, but I don't scrim these maps week in and out and play a ton of matches on them, you guys do. I'm open to any criticism, as long as its structured and not just a flame. You are also more than welcome to email me, frijoles@teamwarfare.com. I encourage input.

NO b2k maps, including Wake.

"Vanilla" maps are fine.

these are the best maps for 8v8
Karkand
Tehran
Damavand
Seine
Kharg
Bazaar
Sharqi
oman
canals*heavily ru sided but still fun

metro and firestorm would be ok preseason

caspian and wake suck
All of the following reviews are on the competitive nature of them, not my personal feelings about pubbing them.

Caspian Border - good for 12's, not 8's. Too big

Damavand Peak - excellent map

Grand Bazaar - excellent map

Gulf of Oman - excellent map, surprised by how good it was.

Kharg Island - most disagree with me, but Kharg is ok, but not great

Noshahar Canals - ok but not great

Operation Firestorm - most regard this as a joke. I've played it a handful of times now, I'd say it's ok for ladder play.

Operation Metro - flaming piece of shit

Seine Crossing - excellent map

Sharqi Peninsula - excellent map

Strike at Karkand - excellent map

Wake Island - never played it

I think leaving several of these B2K maps out is a huge mistake, several of them are very fun and well balanced. In fact I think several are better maps than many of the vanilla maps we've been playing.

Last but not least and I can't stress this enough, you MUST sync the map list with the other leagues.

^^^ This.
You mean between the 8v8 and 5v5 and 4v4?

Or you mean other gaming websites that would never do the same for us? We will look into it but I can not promise anything.

Edit: That is something in all my years I have never understood. Even in times when TWL has been the first site to release a map list we are the ones asked (or told) to change to another website's map list. *Hence my above frustration.

SixShotSean
Because TWL comps are "just for fun" while others often offer prizes and money.

Therefore, THEY are the primary concern and TWL is secondary.

SO, a team would sooner practice for the "prize" league and let TWL languish because it's "not as important".

It's not a personal thing, it's a financial thing.

I'm not going to argue about other leagues, but if whoever admins there wants to get with me and come up with a map list (and likewise, I'll try to make contact, frijoles@teamwarfare.com), I'm all for working together. It helps out all the teams who scrimmage, etc.

What won't happen, is copying another leagues map list and just using it. I'm pretty sure we're the most open when it comes to map selection.

Teams will not attempt to prepare for two different maps within the same week. I don't really care who works with who, or how it gets done even, just that it does. I'm hoping some how there is a sync so we can have some flow to a normal week.

TWL:

- New site
- Improved League and Ladder system with the new website
- Prizes and/or money pool league

You will all the sudden be more popular in both playing and admin recruitment.

This isn't rocket surgery.

Though this is not the direction I was heading with my point, the concept isn't that bad. I don't see the need for a new site, however, I think sponsors providing the prizes like Gigabyte for example would work. It's cheaper and a lot less work for Gigabyte, Diamond, EVGA, etc to have to officiate this kind of stuff. It's not the worst idea in the world to try and get some of these hardware companies to partner up with TWL.
ideally:

preseason
metro
kharg

regular 6 week
bazaar
karkand
tehran
oman
bazaar

playoffs
damavand
sharqi
seine

?

Nothing is set, but that looked like a pretty decent map schedule I thought...
