A Question About 1v1 Armor Ladder

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2014-04-26 · 17 posts
In the map Tehran Highway there are 2 armor vehicles (LAV and Tank) per side. As for weapons both vehicles LAV and Tank have different advantages (weapons) and using an LAV against a Tank has it's disadvantages and advantages but the advantage in general is uneven (example: tank vs. tank is even weapons). Since TWL is about evening the battlefield it should only be right to have both opponents use the same vehicle that have the same weapons. Please make a decision on this and add a rule if necessary to make both opponents agree to use LAV or Tank before the match and only use the vehicle agreed on for the entire match. Or something like that.

Both tanks are legal to use. A player may use either or both for a match.

Standing rule has always been, if it's in match comms, it's a rule. If both teams agree to ONLY use the LAV in a match and you have a screenshot of your opponent using the tank, then it's a forfeit round in your favor.

ok so what part of my message did you not get? I did not see you say anything about the advantages and disadvantages.

I know both team have the option to agree to use LAV or tank for the entire match but what if neither player is in agreement. I like to see a rule that settles a situation of both players not in agreement with each other and at the same time keeping the match fair with using only 1 type of armor vehicle for the entire match as a rule for both players.

That will not happen. Both are legal vehicles and are options for the ladder. As Green said above you can choose to agree in match comms to just use one.

We don't tell players that they can't use a certain legal gun do we?

Also, there are ONLY 18 PLAYERS on this ladder!!! Why does it matter so much?

It matters because someone just got a beatdown by a LAV driver
If there is an advantage or disadvantage to using one or the other, don't you think the rest of the ladder is aware of those advantages as well?

We aren't here to hold your hand and force players into something they don't want to use. If you're in an IFV and the other guy is in the T-90 or M1 and he smokes you, I suggest staying out of the IFV.

I think the whole point of the ladder is to bring the biggest gun to the party. If you purposely don't and lose, that's not your opponents fault.

Ahhh, didn't think about that...lol.

Next thing will be that only certain streets will be allowed to drive down, because one of them gives you more cover than the other guy has.

Listen, Laser, if we start dictating everything that can be done during the match, there is no reason to play. Tactics, loadouts, tank type are what you get to choose from. Now you are wanting to take one of those choices away.

If he keeps losing he will try to refine the rules down to....

Both tanks park 20 feet apart on an open road. They are not allowed to MOVE. Tank A fires first then Tank B takes a turn. Repeat until I win.

SixShotSean just answered my question since it is obvious he doesn't care about what the ladder means to tankers but how much people don't care about it. And for your information the BF2 2v2 Armor ladder specificly said 1 APC and 1 Tank versus 1 APC and 1 Tank to keep the competition fair but I know you are not about discussion of advantages. I'm done here, I am not to be blamed when my opponent feels cheated from a disadvantage.

No SixShotSean you don't tell players what legal gun to use because you ban the guns as a official TWL rule to justify not caring about advantages and disadvantages. Cough on that XShades.

Yes, because they ban guns without peoples input yet alone polls. Most of those guns you just listed had some good arguments I don't know if you were around because of your shit computer running windows 95.

Maybe tell those 6 actives teams to come to the forums to discuss the ladder and how you want it to be run. Since, your not really helping the situation.

Some people do not bother to discuss the matter for 1 reason or another. Does this sound familiar (How many peole does it take to screw in a light bulb?)? We don't need the entire 1v1 armor ladder to discuss this matter.

As for "my shit" computer running Windows 95, I run BF3 quite well with UAC3 and I plan on taking rank 1 from MarineCorps121. And I run Windows 7 just fine with no errors or problems during it's installation.

All the weapon bans we put in place were voted on by the community because they are overpowered.

It is an ARMOR ladder. Why would we limit what ARMOR a player can use? If you are a great LAV driver then use it, why should that not be allowed? I do not understand the argument?

This is not an argument first of all. I don't waste my time arguing in TWL forums, I learned that the first year I came here. Second this is a 1v1 Armor ladder and any vehicle may be used, I get that. In a different forum thread about using 3rd party software 1 of you admins said evening the battlefield by taking away the disadvantages is the TWL way. So putting into a criteria of all players being even by making all weapons/vehicles even from start to finish is and making that a rule is what I thought was the best way to make this matter clear. If you do not accept that idea then simply say that. I don't need to hear words like "We are not going to hold your hand through matches" or "We are not going to let you dictate this competition". I don't need your sarcasm. If you cared maybe you would have given a better reply.
