______________________________________________________________________________

GeneralQ1: What is CDC?

It is a client-side program that will check for cheats in AA. Every TWL player needs it if they want to play matches, as it is REQUIRED for matchplay.

Q2: Why do we have CDC when we also have PB?!

Because with PB the ban feature is not on 100% of the time. Sometimes they do what we do - only log the cheater. The problem is, we do not see the PB log. It's very possible a cheat could be used and we would have no way of knowing.

Q3: Where can I download the latest version of CDC?

It can be found in the TWL downloads section for AA or here http://kustomappz.ripteam.com/CD/ (and pay close attention to the finesse with which the links are presented to you )

Q4: Is there a (insert platform here)-version of CDC?
In creating the next version of CDC to allow gamers who use Linux and Mac operating systems to join us here at TWL, we will be phasing out the ability of WIN95/98/ME to use CDC.

Looking at the CDC records, we have only a small percentage of users still on WIN98, but we will allow a large community of Linux/Mac users to join us.

Right now a very tenative deadline of Sept 1st for the loss of WIN95/98/ME useage is being put out, but as software development goes, a date can be shaky. I did want to give all of those users notice though so they can complete the upgrade to WIN2000/XP/Linux/MacOS in plenty of time.

Q5: Is there a list of known bugs?

Not at this time.

Q6: I want to test CDC. Am I allowed to?

You are allowed to *test* CDC at any time to make sure it is working perfectly when match time comes. However if you are found to be using/testing a cheat on CDC even when not in a match you will be permanently banned from TeamWarfare. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

Q7: Do I need internet-access to use CDC?

Yes. It retrieves data from the CDS, so you need internet-access for CDC. But why are you asking this? You are only allowed to use CDC for matches remember (and matches require internet-access).

Q8: How to check who's on the CDS during a setup round?

Defaults key to display the playerlist is ALT-PAGEUP. To remove the playerlist again, press ALT-PAGEDOWN. You can change these keys under the options-menu in CDC.

Q9: How do I run the CDS?

You don't. There's no public version of the CDS. It's run on a few TWL-trusted servers ONLY.

Q10: I have a network and we all play via one internet IP (also known as NAT and MASQUERADING). Will this interfere with CDC?

Nope, CDC should work without problems.

Q11: What if your question is not in this FAQ?

Post a new topic! That's what this forum is for You can also try asking your question on #twl_aa on irc (irc.gamesurge.net) if it's really urgent. Usually people will try to help if you ask calmly and politely.

Errors / TroubleshootingQ1: I'm trying to install CDC by double-clicking on it, but Windows tells me it doesn't know the file-type. How do I go on now?

You will need a newer version of the Windows Installer.

Win98/ME:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=cebbacd8-c094-4255-b702-de3bb768148f&DisplayLang=en

WinNT/2K:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=4b6140f9-2d36-4977-8fa1-6f8a0f5dca8f&DisplayLang=en

Alternatively you can go here: http://search.microsoft.com/search/results.aspx?st=b&qu=Windows+Installer&view=en-us

Q2: During installing I get the following error: "error 1401. Could not create key: HKEY_blablabla. Verify that you have sufficient access to that key blablabla".

You need administrator-access to your machine to install CDC. Try shift-rightclicking on the installer and select "Run as..". Input the administrator-user and password. Or you could just log in as a user with full administrator-rights.

Q3: Where can I find the error-log?

It's in the folder where you installed CDC (defaults to: C: \Program Files\Kustom Appz Software\TWL AA Cheat Deterrent Client). Look for a file called CDCError.log.

Q4: Discrepancies found! AAAAAAAAAAAH Am I banned now?!?

There's no real direct answer, but in most cases no, unless of course it is cheat-related. There are multiple reasons why you can have discrepancies. Admins take this into account and check the logs thoroughly. If you do have cheats, then yes, you WILL be in trouble.

Q5: Discrepancies: CDC is reporting missing files? What the..?

You are missing files! Might be an idea to get those from teammates or better yet, reinstall AA with the full version if possible.

Q6: Discrepancies found; it says I have extra files that the server doesn't have! (xxx in system folder but the server doesn't)

Your best bet is to move the files mentioned to a temporary folder and then try again. If it works and you thoroughly tested AA, it should be safe to delete the files. If AA doesn't start anymore or something, move them back.

Q7: CDC reports 0 files in my system folder!

Uninstall CDC. If necessary delete any remaining files from the folder it was installed (defaults to C: \Program Files\Kustom Appz Software\TWL AA Cheat Deterrent Client). Download the latest CDC full version(http://www.x8668k.com/cdc/) and install that one.

Q8: I keep getting disconnected from CDC. What's up with that?

Some users report, that if they have raised the process priority of Americas Army, they need to either raise CDC to the same level as well, or lower it back to normal to stop the disconnections from occuring.

This could be because of your firewall. Try to turn it off and test again. If you are running a stateful firewall (for example under a *nix) try removing the SYN-requirement.

Q9: CDC isn't starting! I checked the error-log, and it says "Automation error. The specified module could not be found". Uhhhhh? :S

Your copy of Windows Script Host is either corrupted, out of date or missing/not installed.

Note that running Windows Repair from your Windows CD corrupts Windows Script Host.
Go here and download the Windows Script Host for your operating system.

Q11: AA gives me this and that error!

That's right. AA gives you that error. There is no known error that AA gives that is caused by CDC. Sorry. Still think it's CDC? Post a new topic. Who knows?
Some people seem to get a NO LABEL error when running CDC. It is being looked into.

Q12: I have a multiple-monitor setup. Can I expect problems?

It has been reported that while playing AA and using CDC, it can happen that the cursor goes into the other screen. If you click when it's out of the screen with AA, it will minimize AA. This will usually result in your death :]

Q13: Discrepancies found: CRC'S don't match

  1. Remove cheats.

  2. Are you using an old version of AA? Has a new version of AA JUST been released? If a new version just has been released, the CDS might still be running the old version of AA. Or if you haven't updated yet, CDS might have.

  3. You might have spyware that's messing up your system. VX2/F is a known offender. Do a scan for spyware, for example with Spybot in safe mode.

Spybot is not endorsed by TWL in any way, it's only mentioned because a member mentioned it as finding the offender.

Q14: I get this strange error in my logfile. It says "Could not decrypt data".

Go to "Regional and Language Options" in the Control Panel.
On the "Advanced" tab, there is a ComboBox in the group control labeled "Language for non-Unicode programs." In this ComboBox you need to select an ASCII-compliant/transparent encoding (language in the User Interface), for example "English (United States)."

Q15: I get this error: "Error 429 (ActiveX component can't create object)". How do I solve this?

Your copy of Windows Script Host is either corrupted, out of date or missing/not installed.

Note that running Windows Repair from your Windows CD corrupts Windows Script Host.
Go here and download the Windows Script Host for your operating system.

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/downloads/list/webdev.asp

Q16: "Please check your base path to Army Ops, I couldn't find it.". CDC can't find my exe! How come?

CDC is pointing to the wrong base directory for AA. It should be the Americas Army folder under program files. See the second bullet for instructions.

  1. AA 1.9 was located at (default) \program files\army operations
AA 2.0 and beyond are located at (default) \program files\Americas Army
Change the path to the proper dir (see next bullet)
  2. Next to step 1 ("Ensure your ArmyOps Base Folder is correct") is a button with three dots in it. Click it and point it to your installation directory (defaults to C: \program files\Americas Army). Do not point to the System-dir where the exe really is, but to the Base Folder.

Q17: Americas Army gives me a "No Label" error when I play using CDC. Any known fixes?

  1. If the error includes "Failed to enter Entry: Can't find file for package 'A-Weapons3P'", there is something wrong with your base-path and there's some mixing with AA 1.9. Check your basepath for AA (Q16)
  2. If the error includes "General protection fault", there could be some problems with your AA install. Try reinstalling AA, possible to the default dir (if you have it installed somewhere else) and try it then. Then try moving it to your install-dir of preference if you still want it moved. This has been known to fix it for some people.

Q18: "Couldn't retreive keys from Master or backup server using Direct or Proxy. Are you connected to the internet?". I am connected to the internet! So what's this all about?

This error can happen if you use an old version of CDC. Try creating a new shortcut and making sure it's actually the latest version running (bottom of the FAQ shows the latest version, match it with your own version).

CDC detects its connection settings from Internet Explorer (which therefore is required):
You could have Internet Explorer set to "work offline". Start up Internet Explorer, go to the menu "File", and make sure that the option "work offline" is *NOT* ticked. Then try again.

Other things that can cause this problem include (but are not limited to):

  • Firewall blocking the required ports
  • Conflicting software (Word/Excel, Norton, etc)
  • Proxies

Try turning off as much software as possible and then try again. Figure out what is causing it and then try to modify (if possible) it's settings (since there's nothing in CDC that can be changed when it comes to this problem).

Another thing that can cause this is a firewall like zone-alarm, which will not recognize the new version of cdc (or any other program) as being the program you gave permission to earlier on when it was first given permission. You have to give it permission again. So double-check your firewall, add it again, or whatever you need to do to get that firewall of yours working

Q19: The logfile shows this error: "Error 52 (Bad file name or number) in procedure CFEH of Module HackCheck." Now what?

Check your system environment variables. In winXP, right-click on 'My computer' and go to the tab 'advanced'. Bottom-left there is a button called 'Environment Variables'. Click that and make sure that it AT LEAST says
"%SystemRoot%\system32;%SystemRoot%;%SystemRoot%\System32\Wbem;". There could be more in there, just leave that.

Q20: "You have 47 files in your AAO\system folder - The server has 47 files in it's AAO\system folder". What's this?

  1. Controlpanel -> International or Language Settings, "Standards and Formats" must be set to English (USA)

  2. Try the answer to Q14 for the solution.

Q21: My log shows the following error: Error 53 (File not found) in procedure CAALFDM of Module HackCheck. What do I do now?

Nothing. This error can be safely ignored, and Hydra will fix it for the next update.

Q22: hydradmh.dll error in windows XP

Hydravision is ATI's program to use multiple monitors and virtual desktops. Remove Hydravision and CDC should work again.

Q23: The auto-update does not work. How come?

  1. Turn off your firewall (or set it up properly )

  2. Get the latest full version (http://kustomappz.ripteam.com/CD/)

Q24: Error: "your login to TWL does not have the ArmyOps login registered. Please make sure all your ArmyOps logins are registered under your TWL Login name. You can do this at the Profile page under Account Maintenance."
  1. Make sure that in box #2 you filled in your TWL login-name. You have to do this MANUALLY!
  2. Make sure you added your smurf-ids to your profile, and make sure they are a 100% match to the playername (field #4) showing in CDC.

Q25: A flashing message is shown that says a player has been ejected for inactivity? What is it and what should I do?

What you do if you see this message flash across your screen is immediately hit your F1 to bring up the AA playerlist, and then get some screenies of the CDC message along with the playerlist. You already know that the Playerlist flickers, so hit your screenshot key like 3 or 4 times in a row to insure you got it. The reason why is because by the time you see this message, CDS has already disconnected them and shut down their AA. If they are still showing in the AA playerlist, then something could be wrong (you can't be seen in the AA playerlist if CDC has shut down your AA).

Now, there is other information that gets logged before CDS shuts them down so if you do see this message, DO NOT START CALLING THE OTHER TEAM CHEATERS.
Just take your screenies and dispute the match AT THE END.
The TWL admins will then take a look at the other information that was logged to make a determination.

Because we're talking about many many different network configurations there's a posibility that the player who was ejected is actually OK. This should be rare, but thats what the other information in the logs is for. So again, DO NOT START ACCUSING THE OTHER TEAM.

Q25: My problem still isn't solved :'( What now?

  1. Uninstall CDC, then delete the CDC-folder (defaults to: C: \Program Files\Kustom Appz Software\TWL AA Cheat Deterrent Client). Reboot. Download the latest FULL version of CDC (http://kustomappz.ripteam.com/CD/) and install it.

  2. Rigorous solution, but works most of the time: Uninstall CDC, then delete the CDC-folder (defaults to: C: \Program Files\Kustom Appz Software\TWL AA Cheat Deterrent Client). Uninstall AA and delete the AA-dir (defaults to C: \Program Files\america's Army\). Reboot. Download the latest FULL versions of CDC (http://kustomappz.ripteam.com/CD/) and AA (for example: http://www.aafiles.com). Install AAO and configure it. Install CDC. Reboot.

  3. Create a new topic, stating your problem. If it's really urgent, try #twl_aa on irc (irc.gamesurge.net).
