new pb to fix the false positives

Version 1.049 of the PB Client for ET has been released to our PB Master Servers for auto-update and to our website download page.

Release Notes for PB Client v1.049:

* new pb_lan setting defaults to 0; when set to 1, PB will behave as though it has no Internet access
* addressed glitch with INCLUDE type Cvar restrictions
* new pb_webupdate command adds the PBWEB functionality directly into the PB client; PBWEB should no longer be required to manually update PB clients; PunkBuster will automatically issue this command when necessary to auto-update during gameplay before going into distress mode

I am constantly getting disconnected from servers for "unknown reason." And after 3 connection attempts I get kicked for 5 minutes.

I have uninstalled, removed from registry, removed every folder and ANYTHING related to ET, and reinstalled. I installed the latest PB, and NOW it is happening more often.

While on Team speak, I was informed that I was kicked via punkbuster for duplicate cd-key, and temporarily banned for 5 minutes.

While mostly my connection problems are due to being in Anchorage Alaska, my average ping to a server is about 120. I do not understand why or how I would have a duplicate cd-key or such. My team mates have been at a loss for this as well.

sorry that wasn't helpful. I can tell you this, being in ak doesn't effect your problem. Most likely this may be how pb is recognizing you. I suppose its possible that they've assigned the same key to multiple people. What I'd suggest is go into your main et folder (usually found at c: \program files\et yadda yadda yadda) and look for the cdkey file that is generated by pb. Delete this. Start up et again and it should assign you a new one. Exit the game and write protect that file. Restart the game and go into the server you're having problems with.

It would be helpful to know if this is happening to you on every server or if its just on selective servers.

Sorry, maybe someone else has more input, but this is all I can think of off the top of my head.

The other benefit to this is that your cdkey is now going to be the same for as long as you keep that file. You can use it to identify yourself within twl within their guid database. And although this has been discussed before (found here http://www.teamwarfare.com/forums/showthread.asp?forumid=40&threadid=86751 ) about alaises/tags/smurfing. It will help prove to others that you're serious about who you are and that you're not a smurfy smurf smurfing up a smurfy match for some other smurf. Joo dig it smurfy style?

if you were abruptly disconnected from the server previously chances are that your ghost (999) was still on the server when u reconnected and it kicked you becuase of that... essentialy you were on the server twice... stange that the pb was set to kick for dup cdkeys since its a free game... n e way.
