I made a new movie, its kinda short but was alot of fun making it. enjoy and give me your comments please. by the way, its about 80 megs, go it might taake you a min to get the file.
not trying to be a dick or nothin, but the movie sucked. The music was ghey, everything was slowmotion, the guy had no crosshair and like fov of 20. Just my critizism, im sure someone may like it.
and THAT is why people hesitate to contribute to the community. Regarless of whether you meant to be a dick or not, you kinda were. I havent got the chance to watch it yet, but thanks it advance for trying to entertain me, caveman, even if your not Spike freakin Lee. :]
Well here is what i thought of it, I thought the effects, and the aura the movie gave was cool, when i heard frag video, i as expecting frags, but your video didn't really have the huge multi kill runs people are used to, it was neat seeing simple things like reviving in slow motion n stuff, and i liked the panned out shots of battery, but it felt more like an ET promo video than a frag video.
If you want it to be a frag video, consider adding in shots from the first person, with a crosshair drawn so people can get an idea of the aim, and if you just want to make a cool effects video (i enjoy these). Look for clips that are funny or produce them in a way so like i said earlier, simple things look cool. Different angles, synching music stuff like that I enjoy.

EDIT: I also wanted to say that music doesn't suck, i thought the zoomed out shot of battery went good with the music. Maybe turn down some of the brightness stuff on GR with the flamer.
And to Jerry, I dunno about caveman, but im workin on a video, and its not really to entertain anyone but myself, they're fun to make, and its a nice memory, imagine 2 years from now when no one plays ET, to load up a video of clips from you and your buddies, i mean i got 2 really good friends that i've played Et with since I started, we've had a lot of awesome times in pubs doing whatever and it will be cool to look back on in the future. As for the vid. Not the best one that I have seen. Its a nice start. (prob. better then most people could do) Hopefully you will get comfortable with the editing software, and options you have in game while viewing the demos to make an even better movie in the future.
thanks for the comments everyone, well I guess you guys are right, its not a good frag movie, but it was fun to do, I guess thats the main thing. as far as the music being ghey, well I guess to each his own. I thought it fit well with the mood of the shots, and the slow motion was there to bring out things not just to make it slow, the brightness was added for the glow effect of the explosions to make them stand out, as if to say, this is not the place you want to be standing or trying to get to. its my first attemp at a et movie. all the critics are welcome to voice there opinion, even Jerry Peace.
Video was niceley made...Just 2-3 pointers.. If its gonna be a fragfest about your clan, you better show off their names..Like top left and the killed by text..
Flamer on gr kinda hurt the brightness :/
One last thing, IMO , I would try to avoid shrub server frags, saw a couple of meds packs fly when meds died :/.. but wtv man there is no set rule on how to make this, i enjoyed it anyhow.
well i downloaded it, and it wasnt my idea of a frag video. Cave wanted ppl to post what they thought and i did. Not my fault im honest. I was just tryin to give critizism. If u want me to be a dick just ask...
h,,.... yeah, try to add more variety, like 2-4 man nades, 4-6 man panzers, and less pub shots, more clanwar shots... also, the intro was about a third of the movie... try tp get more footage, or cut back on the intro. instrumentals are cool, but I also like hearing metalica voice or linkin park..

I thought the actual film-work was good... although like everyone else said the flamer on GR was a bit bright... maybe instead of messing with brightness filter you could just change the color filter? emphasize the red outlines and make it stand out more without making it so bright?
Also, the music was sweet... I liked the way you did battery, but it seemed like there should be a plot or something... in terms of cinematics it looked kinda cool, but in the end it was just kinda some guys and then some explosions on the beach...
I too have been messing with some editing and I have a new found respect for how much time it really takes to create even a 3 min movie. I think your editing is much better than my stuff (Probably took longer too, I'm lazy). The content could have been better, more multifrags, less revives, and some more headshots would add to the overall ownage type theme these videos have. I know how much of a pain in the ass it can be to watch the demos at 2x or 3x speed for 20 mins writing down the times I thought something cool happened, and only get 30 secs of useful footage from it. Good job though and I hope you release another one now that you have had some practice.
I see your comments and I appreciate all of them, dont worry about being honest Jerry, its all good, and you are all right, its truly not a frag fest, actually I started out trying to make a story with a plot, but to be honest it was taking so long that I gave it up, the brightness in some of the shots where from hero sequences, one for meds that I called Angel of Mercy. here is the actual clip. its about 50 megs, and the wide screen is screwed up in places, I need to re render it, but you will get the idea
this is also why you dont see any names or target indicators, I tried to make it like a movie and whens the last time you saw a movie with cross hairs. any way I will try again, give me a month and I will have a good frag movie made, shoot it could take that long just to stream the demos to get shots lol. another peice of advice, is look for clips of things that tdon't happen a lot, like gibbing a lone eng with a knife is not a big deal, but lets say, gibbing the eng in a clutch part of a map when he's surrounded by 4 medics, that might be cool =P

I liked the angel of mercy bit... well, some of it... i like the way you do your effects, i think you just need to work on content... second video, me.. looking forward to.
for those asking about the music, I believe it's Acid Rain by Liquid Tension Experiment (3 of the guys from the current Dream Theater lineup plus Tony Levin on bass)
reading experimenting and editing for a ET movie is a pain in the ass, liked the graphics on it even the flamer(even thought it blinded me ) but yea good vid just need more frags, ask ppl for good frag demos and put it together with what you already know. Post your second Movie if you do. Will look foward to it.
