Captain Nominations

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2013-09-25 · 37 posts
Nominate six people you would want to see captain during Seaosn 9.

Obviously nothing is going to come of this post or any of the nominations but I think it would be interesting to see who nominates who.

I'm personally basing my nominations off of memory but mostly off who has already signed up for Season 9

1. Wormwood
2. Hexy
3. Mooley
4. Redeye
5. Enigma
6. Proj

Reasoning behind my picks/nominations are either because they would be fresh captains and it would be something new (I know a lot of people have captained more than once and in some cases more than twice and bringing new people into the mix sounds interesting/fun). Also the people that I listed are all at least somewhat respected within the community and all of them are pretty good at what they do and can command some sort of leadership.

Enigma hasn't captained in awhile so that would definitely be fresh

Didn't see anyone else worth nomination
I am trying to win state champ in baseball right now.

Get back to me in July and I will consider captaining another T2 championship team.

K Thx
i haven't checked to see who has signed up for season 9
zumie
codeman
me
storksoofly
caylen
meyog

if caylen gets to be a captain, then I nominate myself. sdm
If I capt I would totally have to take a offensive role which would be hard for me to do because I can't think of anyone to replace me besides Caylen. Few runners up.

Last time I capt, my worst mistake (besides not picking bran) was letting slushface O capt because he doesn't lead he just caps. No offense (hehe) to Slushface. I love Slushface.

plus for the team I did pick, a lot of high profile players i picked didn't even bother to show. c5wwatshisface.

So I may consider stepping up for capt again but that's only on a consensus vote that most players wouldn't mind playing for me if I pick them.

I play for fun and to win. And winning is fun. :>

I know what you mean. Last time I captained I remember trying HO a few times to try keep voicecomms going on O and help clear. I know I'm no Gunnah/Rayne/Shivan/Codeman etc but at least I'm pretty good at communicating and have decent mortar aim. Last 2 tourneys though have proved that sticking to farming usually leads to best results so you'd be pretty much forced to get a good first O pick that also leads the offense to be able to comfortably farm and not feel responsible for shit not happening on O. Unfortunately that means no Codeman :X

hey screw you
leading from the d isnt impossible. you just need to have an o leader, and it doesnt have to be your best player, just someone who you dont mind playing every map

USSSA is what Oklahoma plays.

Its a travel team.

All-Stars from league play get a mandatory bump to AA. We are trying to stay in single A so we have a better chance of winning.

Sandbagging a bit by avoiding sanctioned tournaments and traveling to non sanctioned events so we dont add up power rankings and USSSA points.

Sounds like alot, but AA in this area is really hard core. The uber rich hire/contract former MLBers to coach their kids year round. Very tough to compete with. We dont have those resources in my town.

All that said if we play our cards right and dont get bumped to AA we have a legit chance of winning state and going to the world series.

I will let ya know how it goes.

P.S. my son is a stud and bats 3rd. Lefty 8yr old that hits the ball out on a pretty consistent basis. Very proud dad!

Nice. My nephews are 9 and 10. Jordan my 9 i coached the 8s last year in league play and took the 9s all star team cuz only 9s can advance.

We are little league sanctioned so we can go all the way to williamsport for the little league world series. Its the only reason i have the kids in this league. We did travel ball but like you said its tough to compete unless you play year round and we do football so we cant even play fall ball.

Once the kids reach the age of 12 i will pick one sport and stick with it. I didnt plan on raising 5 kids or sending 5 to college. So i am doing what most parents should do. Find that one sport and drive it home for the scholarship.

Keep the updates comming. We dont start our tourney play till end of june or 1st week in july. It dont get any better than 8 and u. That was by far my fav age to coach in tourneys. The kids listen and dont think they know everything yet. Where my 9 and 10s are always talking smack and thinking they know best.

Gunthers punishments.....If the ball goes between your legs on a grounder its a lap. If you get a called 3rd strike its a lap. If you get the ball and dont know what to do with it its a lap. Dont call a fly its a lap. Need to be told score or when your up to bat its a lap. Ask me to pitch its a lap.

Lap consists of taking the bat i use (really heavy) and run around the complete 1/4 mile field holding said bat over your head singing mary had a little lamb backwards in front of everyone right by the food stands. They fucking hate it so bad i love it. Ive done it for 6 years now and its legendary. Only one parent really gave me an issue about it that they ran a lap too.

Does he throw lefty too? How often does he get hit by a pitch. I have had only 3 lefty hitters in all the years (1 i kept on all teams and is my #1 draft pick every year) and they are like a fucking target. Pitchers freak out when a lefty comes up.

My 2 both pitch. one is 9 and one is 10. My 9 is actually the best pitcher. He starts and his brother closes. To make sure parents dont have a fukin cow about that i offer a pitching tryout every week. Kind of like a pitch off. The 9 throws heat and is very accurate. 5 walks all year. His big brother (they are the exact same size) only has 2 walks all year but doesnt have the heat his little brother does.

So i have all the kids pitch to me with one of the loud mouth dads as a batter (so he gets hit). Hes always asking me to pitch his kid. Then i tell him i need someone that throws strikes. I get the kid up there to pitch to me with his dad batting once a week. He gets hit by the pitch at least 2 times every week. Its funny as hell. But its fair.

We practice at home everyday after school. I give them each 2 full buckets to throw. We pretend and keep track of counts. We go through 3 innings with a pretend batter. Balls and strikes. Diff situations and shit. They are not natural athletes like myself or my son. They are just really really well trained.

Good luck man.

Yea. That's what I thought I was doing when I picked that guy who's portrait is on the cup of Slurpee cups. But he didn't talk .. he only worked well with one person. The Debil!! But I digress. ;>

I still feel I would have to play a LD position to have my eye completely on the field and make calls. Being a pure farmer I am constantly on one thing or another and split my eyes between what I see and what LD sees. LD are my other eyes.

Cool

8U is coach pitch. So he hasnt been hit much...next year is the first year of kid pitch...so we shall see what happends then.

Yes he throws left. Average to below average arm, average glove at first base, catches the easy ones, has a hard time adjusting to bad throws. He is leaps and bounds above anyone in this area in hitting though. He has been a natural since he was 2. I need to video him hitting and put it up here. I really think ppl would be amazed. I threw to him last night and out of 15 balls he hit 6 out. 165 ft fence ( lil longer than sanctioned 8U fields) 3 in a row at one point.

I was impressed. Something that doesnt happen much for me in baseball. I have a baseball background and have seen just about everything.

Kid works hard. Loves to hit. Wish I could say the same for his 2 little brothers... they could care less... just play kindle's all day. LoL

Done bragging about my son on T2 forums.

Ill get a vid up for some of you to drool at later. Bc he is a good hitter. Not bc you are pedophiles !

On second thought.....
Got 4th.

Not bad, kind of disappointing. We had the talent to get 1st just couldn't stay consistent. 8 year olds. Watcha gonna do.

We hit 8 homeruns in 6 games though. Too bad they came in bunches. 4 in one game 3 in another.

My son hit 3. I am a proud dad.

Anyway. Thats the update. Now I am free to show for T2.
Like tonight?
I got on at like 5 and pubbed for about an hour.

Then my internet crapped out. I still dont have net at my house. Ill work on it tonight.

We are in our 2nd tourney. Won 1st local tourney. Now playing some tough teams trying to get to state. One of my nephews has a perfect streak going of 15 innings and no base runners. They both could be hitting just a little better but they are solid. We go against the #1 ranked team one of these games in this tourney. Its really a present to be able to play this team in a tourney before the state tourney starts. We already have a spot in sectionals and they do as well. Its gonna be a game for sure. THis tourney only allows me to pitch a pitcher for 2 innings max. Normal is 3. So that changes things but we should be ok.

Shit part is the champ game is 8pm cst on sunday under the lights at the main field. Might have to miss a t2 match. (pray for rain).
