I think you fellas should choose maps where different strategies are required, see how captains adapt.

Cinerous - 300kph cap routes require disc jumps - no big hills. Makes flag game far more interesting, and you'll be looking at mostly HO grabs (possibly even light SJ) but terrain is a bit of a skank. Should be fun. Raping not really priority as invos hidden easily. Teams with good farmers likely do better. Body blocks and clustering the flag could work well as well. HoF guaranteed (and how many HoF's are there left?)

Crossfire - Like a larger Occular - shield HO grabs work well here, and will hit 300kph easily inbound. Has vehicles, so could substitute harvester. Very very fast map.

Deadly Birds Song - Been a long time eh? Break out the LD demos. Let's see how the LoF's adjust to not being able to sit on the flag, as each team will have a dedicated spammer. Again, focus on flag play, egrabs and keeping the flag off the stand.

Cinerous - wouldn't be fun, 1 oob spammer owns base all map

Crossfire - sounds good

Deadly Birds Song - too one sided

i like the sound of crossfire, skylight, most of squeezes options except for small crossing and maybe to throw in a new one the broadside map on goons with the flag on the roof instead of inside
WE played mimicry last time, which is basically a goons map. I wouldn't be opposed to seeing how some other pub maps translate. Or if we just play some of the TLW mappack maps that NEVER get played, just for a fun change of pace, maybe Frozen Hope, MMD2, or something similar
But please no pendulum. What about vauban or windy gap?
burstside would be fucking horrible for comp

EDIT: pendulum is just horrible but vauban sounds fun

also add TWL-Bleed

i liked that map that gay map maker made.

onset.

But my favorite map we need to see implemented would have to be

Needs more Super Happy Bouncy Fun Time.

For a tourney version, I could drop the number of caps to win to like 25 or so. Maybe add vuvuzelas.

i like the new map ideas but

1) signal and rainance will be a turtle fest

inflow: Windy gaps problem is that you spawn middle map 90% of the time making defense difficult and offense too easy.

Please please plesae add circles edge!
Oh Death, Where Is Thy Sting?
[strike]Circle of Stones[/strike]

I'd personally like to see Drifts. Sure it can be a turtlefest but some of the most epic games I can remember have occurred on Drifts. It really stresses the team play.
Marmalade by Bubbletrout is an idea. I feel like it'd have battles similar to Mimicry, it'd play well in comp I think.
fuck minotaur
1) DX
2) ROUGHLAND
3) MIMICRY
4) LOGAN'S RUN
5) ROLLERCOASTER (VPAD)
6) CIRCLE OF STONES
7) CROSSFIRE
8) MOONDANCE
9) WILDERZONE
10)CLOCKTOWER
11)FROZEN HOPE
12)AGORASAZIUM
Marmalade is unbalanced, one side would end up raping the other senseless.

TWL-Drifts would be fun again.

Machine Head CTF in lieu of Super Happy Bouncy, it makes me dizzy, all that damn bouncing...
a great idea would be to put up a list of all of the maps we can even consider to be fair/balanced and give everyone like ten votes to click in. then the top 18 maps voted on would be in?
Is smurfing allowed? I'd rather masturbate with sand paper than play in another tainted and argument-filled tourney.

Where the player pool seems generally slanted toward good HO, rather than good LO players, cinerous could be fun in that regard.

Cinerous is a fucking bitch of a map to play. Let's see how captains adapt. Cinerous is easily a captain's map, rather than a players map (DX, RD, RC etc etc etc etc etc)

Cin is fun, however the strat of "LOL 300M OOB SPAM IS 3 EZ" on the back invos would really, really kill it for 12 man.
the player pool is slanted toward ho because classic is slanted toward ho. right now you are dead if you go over solo in light
Yeah it is a bitch of a map to play. And a very difficult map. It's not really much fun. Perhaps not in the spirit of the tourney then. But standoffs are broken quickly.

Dunno, just seems like it would be pedal to the metal all game long. More a race than a battle.

The thing with Cineous is that you have a chance to try out fairly interesting strategies.

12 man, 1 HOF, 2 LD, 1 farm.

Suit up 8 people in heavy 5 bring out invos and deploy, then at different OOB points, and spam flag / invs, whatever.

Have them chain cap one after the other. Sounds like fun to watch, anyway

Reset when you can as you'll have a possbily 15 - 20 sec window between when enemy spammer(s) dies and gets back into position.

then your offense has to play defense because you have 6 heavy shield packers camping your back hills spamming the flag. 4 defense? might as well play 1 or 2 d

Yes, that's true. It's a race of a map. In-map adjustment as important as ever. Like you said, first to a spamming point, and first to recover.

You make good points. I'm a big fan of Cinerous.

A race instead of a battle?? You must be an NBA fan.

Cinerous would be horrible but I will play it if map 2 is Jagged Claw or something similar. As a matter of fact, how about 1 round of 3 shitty maps that are entirely slanted towards defense for a change instead of the always prevalent 'send a bunch of heavies, spam, rape, rinse, and repeat' crap? Let's play Jagged Claw, MMD, and the original Drifts. How about Recalescence or Thin Ice? Ya, no?

All HOs should burn in hell along with the maps that favor them!!!
http://tribes.m-parsons.com/maps/GoonHaven/AA-ALL-IN-ONE-PACK/

Also, add infernus - I think it would play well. (Bases built into hillsides, flag in tower in the open, few scattered turrets, general inverted donut shape (how outer hills, deep circular valley, rise in the middle).

I don't think anybody wants Thaen to burn in hell.
I love the flag play of Infurnus but I'd be afraid that it would turn into a turtle fest.

I'd love to see Vauban except that qfire would probably get annoying.

Skylight, while a fun map, seemed small to me. I'm not sure if I'd like it in 12-14 man but my experience is really limited on it.

Wilderzone is a really fun map and I'd love to see it this time around.
