... I bid the TWL T2 community a fond farewell. Not only have I found my interest waning in the last couple of months but having a new baby puts things into perspective. I've realized that playing T2 competitively has taken away valuable time from both the baby and my wife. I love T2 but, obviously, I love my family a helluva lot more. I've decided to stop playing T2 competitively and spend more time doing things that I should have been doing all along. So, without wasting everyone's time, I'd like to thank a bunch of people for making my T2 experience the best online gaming experience I've ever had.
I'd like to thank my first competitive team, Moving Targets, for getting me into the competition scene. I learned a lot from them and always enjoyed playing with them: Newport, nme, BloodBaron, jotun, GreenMerrow (best drunk MPB driver around). In particular, I'd like to thank:
Explosive - Leader of MT and a damn good LD. It's a shame he doesn't play anymore. This guy was even kind enough to go out and buy me a GeForce2 Pro when I bitched about having a crappy system.
Nefilim - Mapper extraordinaire. Nef has always been a good buddy and was always there when you needed him. He never did make me a TTHREAZ statue OOB, though.
DieEase - Coolest farmer in the game. This guy is in his mid-50s and was playing T2. He was an inspiration to me and I will always remember his "Lock 'N Load, Rock 'N Roll" on Battlecom in his North Carolina drawl before all ofour mathes.
I'd also like to thank my second team, NOVA. I'd like to thank them for taking me in, even though the majority of theirplayers were in Virginia: Sir Lucius, Mox, nullper, Bounty, d0ggy, MrSmall, phutyoo. I'd especially like
to thank:
Fitty - Really cool big guy in-game and IRL. He's shown me nothing but the utmost courtesy the two times I was lucky enough to visit the D.C. area. I really enjoyed meeting him and I look forward to the next time I'm in the area.
BriDuDe - Fellow new father and fun guy to hang around with and talk to. He was nice enough to have my wife and I over to his house the last time we were in D.C. I wish him nothing but the bext of luck with his new family.
Next, I'd like to thank my next team, Lagless, where the terms "butter" and "boobies" were tossed around like nobody's business. I saw some people come and go but I'd like to give a shoutout to Excal, DwarfVader, fraidykat, jupe, BodyShot, etc. Of course, Lagless was just not Lagless without:
LostAngel - Fellow Subaru guy and good friend. Not only did he help me with my movies but I always enjoyed playing with him. Hell, after Lagless broke up, I tried to follow him to wherever he went.
Fozzy - Best HoF I've ever played with and my favorite pub bitcher . Foz is always eager to help and, like LA, I always wanted to play wherever he was playing. Both Foz and LA are probably the coolest T2 guys I've ever had the chance to meet in person.
Next, I'd like to thank Solution 3 (yeah, the OTHER s3). It was an interesting ride with these guys and, at times, it was rough for me. All the guys were cool but I was going through a period in my life that demanded some time away from T2. Even though I didn't get to play in too many matches, I enjoyed playing with the guys: RenGen,
Dysf(x)al, Dimiotrix, MadDog, Maven, Toganas (TENIDROS), Caylen, Gryp, Julius, verve, etc.
Now, for the shortest stint on any team, Division 6. An interesting group of guys whose roots were in A51. In an odd way, I always had an indirect tie to A51 since I was friends with the best friend of one of the members,
AutoA|m. Back when Mutiny was created, I wanted to play with them. When Foz and LA joined them, I REALLY wanted to play with them. I'd like to thank Dirtnap for letting me in and letting me play in my only div6 match. Special thanks to Revidfumm, Misfit, Hawson, Diamenz, Rhodium, Letitfly, etc.
And now, for the most fun group of guys I've ever had the privilege to play with, MoFo. Back in April of '02, I knew a guy by the name of Machine by way of a movie message board. I knew that he was a Rainbow Six player and thought I'd get him into T2. Well, he ended up falling in love with it and he's been hooked ever since. For a while, I was an honorary member of MoFo. When they decided to go 7-man Classic, I stepped in and started playing with them. Until today, our record isn't exactly stellar but I've had a blast playing with these guys: Machine, kno44, El_Hefe, Topo, Phoenix, j_thunders, Quasimodo, Nexes, KrytosS, NeoProfit, TracerDX and until recently, BigMonkey.
I'd like to add that, even though most of you don't agree with what BigMonkey does, try not to associate any bad experiences that you may have had on our old server (now the TreeHouse) with the MoFo team. These guys are genuinely good people and only want GGs.
Last but not least, I'd like to thank my good friend Surreal. He's the reason I got into the Tribes scene. He started working with us around 4 years ago and he got me into T1 some 6 months later. We'd stay after work and use the office's DSL to pub T1 and we always had fun. He's since moved on to another job but we always manage to have a mini-LAN at his house every once in a while. He's the reason I'm here and I am very thankful for that.
If I missed anyone, please forgive me. It's been 3 years of T2 and I've had the chance to meet and play with A LOT of people.
Well, now that I've wasted everyone's time (even though I said I wouldn't ), I hope the people who go to the Tribal-Wars have a good time. Will I return for T:V? Honestly, I have no freakin' clue.
