anyone know the specifics on this anticheat? how hackable? how good? etc...
bahnees wizard do u know?
Icestar is the resident expert on the MD5 system. I will ask him to answer.
I haven't exactly heard of any real proof of it being bypassed. But the way it was implemented with UT2k3 was as a Mutator. Now I'm not sure if it can or cannot be enabled. I'm almost positive that UBI could implement it into RvS.

Now the way it works is with MD5 numbers which if I understand it correctly is like a identification number. If the file is modified or changed the number will change. In the file. What the this anti cheat program does. is it checks the numbers. If the number does not match. There are setting related to it.

It will either let it go threw.
Kick the person
Kick the person and temp ban them till the server is restarted.
Perm ban them from the server.

It also had different check setting.

A quick check
An extensive check

If UBI doesn't do this themselves and a 3rd party did it. Everytime they patched the game they would have to basically inform the 3rd the party of the new MD5 numbers so he/she could reprogram the checker with the new numbers and release a new version. If UBI does this themselves they'll have all the information themselves. But from the history of gaming no gaming company that I've seen has ever put that much into their product to go to that extreme. Constantly protecting it. Those kinds of protections have normally come from 3rd party groups who play the game and want a clean game. Not a cheat/hack infested game.

Which from what I've seen and read already. UBI has alot of work to do if they are going to do this themselves. They may even think about contacting Epic. And getting some advice from them on how to better protect the engine and the game. To me theres no shame what so ever in them doing it. It shows to me they are going to who made this engine know about it. Putting petty cooperation BS aside for the betterment of actually both communities.

Just a note. I have been out of the UT2k3 loop since RvS was released. But I'm begining to start back up in it. Digging around for more information on UTSecure and even trying to get up with its creator to see if it is even possible to incorperate it into RvS.

good info. I really hope that ubi implements this soon. There has been a lot of accusations being thrown around, but I'm sure most of it is paranoia. But having this type of AC in place will ease a lot of minds.

I don't know if this is it, but if you look at the dedi-server console you'll see there are 2 mutators loaded for each map.

If you can find a way to implement it, let me know. I wish to test it on our server. I have already stopped playing 2 great games because the cheaters have taken it over (Tribes 2 and UT2K3) I really enjoy playing this game and want to stop the cheaters. I used to run a UT2K3 server, so I understand about Mutators. If you can direct me to the files and let me kow which configuration files i need to modify, I will be happy to test it out. I have tried to find out a way to beat client side hacks in RvS, but, as of yet I haven't figured out a bulletproof way to do it. It is going to have to be something client side that does a CRC or some other kind of file size check.

Thx
