Playoff Survival

How do you decide which team faces which?
1 vs 16; 2 vs 15; 3 vs 14; 4 vs 13; 5 vs 12; 6 vs 11;
7 vs 10; 8 vs 9

Higher seeded team is always Home.

How long does playoffs last and what is the schedule/rotation?
It usually lasts approx. 4-5 weeks depending on any holidays or scheduling conflicts.

Important Dates
Week 1 - Round of 16 - de_dust2 (2/07)
Week 2 - Quarter-Finals - de_nuke (2/14)
Week 3 - Semi-Finals - de_train (2/21)
Week 4 - Final - BO3* - de_train; de_nuke; de_season(if needed) (2/28)

*Best-Of-Three

Is my team eligible?
Once the regular weeks are over, qualified teams will advance to the playoffs. Position in the standings is based on total points. If there is a points tie when seeding playoff teams, total rounds-won and then win % will be used to determine the seeding. This is why we require teams to file no-show disputes and to play out all 30 rounds in the event of a tie.

What is BO3?
BO3 stands for "Best of 3." During the finals, the teams will be able to choose the maps that they would like to play. Here is how it will work:

1st Map - Visitor choice (lower seeded team)
2nd Map - Home choice (higher seeded team)
3rd Map - Chosen by TWL admins

Teams will have to post their map choices at least 48hrs in advance before the final match day. All three maps are to be played back-to-back with the first team winning 2/3 to be the new champions.

What is default day and time for all playoff matches?
They are the same as the regular season. Default day and time is Monday at 9:00PM EST for matches

You have up until Thursday night 11:59PM EST each week to either report or reschedule your matches. We will not allow any extensions due to the constricting time-line. Rare exceptions may be made, so it's best to contact an admin if you are looking at playing past the deadline.

Do we have to play out?
Nope! The first team to win 16 rounds wins and you would report accordingly.

How do I dispute?
In order to submit a dispute, you are **required** to e-mail your dispute to cssleague@teamwarfare.com. Please be sure to include a link to your team, the dispute information (and any materials, it speeds the process), and contact information. PLEASE DO NOT REPORT THE MATCH IF YOU INTEND ON DISPUTING and let the opposing team know, right away by posting in match comms.

Some Playoffs Tips:
  • You have up until Thursday night 11:59PM each week to either report or reschedule your matches. We will not allow any extensions due to the constricting time-line. Rare exceptions may be made, so it's best to contact an admin if you are looking at playing past the deadline.

  • The higher seeded team should always be home. The site doesn't know how to properly determine who is home, so ignore what it says and go by seed. There's no way for us to set who is home.

  • Please DO NOT report the match right away, unless you are certain your opponents do not intend to dispute. This will save everyone's time and effort because we can communicate faster and more reliably via match comms than email.

The bracket seems kinda sketch. Why is the hardest route to the finals the #1 seed with the #1 seed playing #2 2nd round?

    usually it's

    1 v 16
    8 v 9

    4 v 13
    5 v 12

    6 v 11
    3 v 14

    7 v 10
    2 v 15

So statistically it's 1v4 and 2v3 for the round of 4 instead of 1v3 and 5v7 with team 5 having the easiest path to finals and team 2 having by far the hardest by playing 1 and 3 2nd and 3rd round instead of 7 and 3.

    it's fine as is
Playoffs 2 months after our last match.

Every team is going to be dead. You should open the rosters for a week to replace players and keep teams from forfeiting. However, TWL probably just wants to get this season over with and doesn't care about forfeits.
glad to see playoffs finally starting.

Not at all glad to see that our dispute was ignored. I would have though a team caught using a banned player would mean an overturned match but whatever.

That was one of many reasons for the delay and it has been delt with. We also had other issues to look into.
Which apparently didn't include fixing my team's matches, which would have put us in position 12 or 13 instead of 24 and out of the playoffs. Way to go guys.

    indeed haha
Match comms will be open tomorrow.
    Well, kick their asses PSA.

Represent n00bfest well since our teams will likely never appear in TWL again =)
    So I'm assuming de_buke = de_nuke for round 2?

    Correct. I fixed my typo.
The maps for the finals have been selected. No STV will be available for the match unfortunately.

Boo for no TV - but with all the new DOS attack utility the hackers are using lately, I don't blame you for keeping the info secret. Perhaps someone can up the STV.dem later, I'm sure it will be a good match.

Good Luck to both teams, and congrats!!

The ddos attacks were all on ESEA, I highly doubt that TWL would be affected by them.
