wtf over? First of all, I think this map should be removed from the ctf ladder. Second, the respawn for algiers is 15 seconds. How did you come up with this respawn time for intermodal? You can cap on algiers in 15 seconds. You can't even get off the boat in 13 seconds in intermodal.
yeah seriously remove this map
urban terror is fast paced action not camping and sniping and taking 5 minutes to see the flag. same goes for sands.
Sorry, sands is best map created to date, it must stay.

I never played Intermodal so meh.
PLEASE dont tell this retarded map is in the CTF league rotation!!!!!!

i had the very unpleasant experience of playing this map in a ladder match. It was long, campy, boring....NOT FUN. It took us 45 minutes to score the round winning cap against a clan that we handily won 19-2 on the previous map.

I have noticed that someone in TWL is trying to bring in a different crop of maps into the rotation. Thats fine with me but dont just throw any crap in like intermodal ffs! If you want to try some unique map for the ctf league rotation, it should be tested completely by the admins, let some ladder matches play it few times and get the input of the community before putting it in the ladder.
What is it with you people? All you do is bitch about maps because YOU don't like them. Intermodal is a terrific map for 6v6, likewise with Sands. They are both a great challenge and require top notch teamwork to win. Just because it's not fast like Algiers/Turnpike/Abbey2 or whatever does not make it a bad map.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, camping is not the map's fault - it's the players who play the map.

There are too many good maps not played because of people's stinking attitudes, no wonder SID arent bothering any more when ppl just completely ignore and diss maps like offshore, siberia, crenshaw, twinlakes, streets2. Even the new contest maps dont' seem to be played much. Why? Because of the narrow minded idiots who sadly seem to make up the majority of the community.
urt is not designed for maps like intermodal or sands
it's supposed to be fast paced fun
LOL...then why do the developers include Sands in every release of Urban Terror?
Because thats how they want Urt to be played.
and when they included ut_lava in a release i'm sure they meant that to be played a lot too?

Where's the fun in playing maps like Abbey/Turnpike/Algiers permanently?

Also, riddle me this : Howcome newer small maps like Poseidon or Contrada, or SID maps like Offshore and Siberia have not been played nearly as much as they should have?

The answers lie with the players who refuse to play on 'different' maps. Too lazy to learn them? Too lazy to download third party maps? Too lazy to use the teamwork required to have fun on large maps?

Oh btw for the benefit of -=BD=-Headshot and the others who think you can't get off the boat in Intermodal in 13 seconds, try playing the damn map once or twice and you might figure out the quicker way down.
who said anything about playing those 3 maps "permanetly"
why does siberia, contrada and offshore not get played?
cuz they're not good.

poseidon is a great map and ive played it in pubs a lot of times.

sands and intermodal are terrible maps because they are not fun (i wasn't getting owned when i played it and i was still bored), and they don't test a teams all around skill. "randomly" a intermodal/sands map team (like ems) could get paired up with an auto team (like xtc) and the crappy sands team COULD win cuz they have the sr8's. (and yes i was referring to the "random" pairing of xtc vs ems on sands last season) the game is meant to have 0-2 snipers per team, not a 6 man sniper squad (3.4 anyone?). because that doens't test a team's real abilities, just a portion of their skill.

cool

the EmS guys flock out to defend the type of map they so coincidentally get paired to play xtc on....oh wait, is it still called coincidence when there are admins making the match ups?

i have an idea:
NO stupid maps like intermodal.
NO admins who are in a clan set up schedules.

I think ND80 should decide all match ups

Nobody said that. I said maps LIKE them.

In what way are they 'not good'? All three of those examples play at a decent pace, look good and are evenly balanced? Give me one legitimate reason for each why they should not be played more or used in competition map lists.

Unfortunately it is not in many map rotations, and it seems a lot of players don't even have the map. I went from a full CTF server (18) to 6 players on Saturday when I ran this. Of the 5 others who were left, 3 of them asked for a new map. WTF OVER?

If being able to cap in 5 seconds with no backup is your idea of fun then that defeats the whole team based element of the game. Some of the best (and most fun) matches I've played in have been on Sands. Why? Because I like a challenge, and the game should be a challenge. Otherwise what's the point of playing?

They are a bigger test of teamwork skills than a lot of maps.

You know nothing about {EmS}'s preferences for maps. So hush.

We do well on larger maps and maps not widely played because we play and practice on them more regularly than the wider community. And to the best of my knowledge not all of -x- used automatics and not all of {EmS} used sniper weapons. You should get your facts straight about us before spewing forth this diarrhoea and accusations of 'pulling strings' to play certain teams on certain maps. Please keep it for the STA forums. Thank you.
I thought the (13) was the number of times the map has been played?

Unfortunately, we have to realize that people suck and would rather play the same 5 maps over and over rather then spend 10 minutes downloading something new.

I think this is sad and I also think that everyone that runs a server should promote new maps like this, especially when they are good maps, there are 2 or 3 especially good ones in the contest map pack.

If you put a map like posiedon in the League, then people will have to download it or they would have to forfeit, period. I am willing to guess that half of the people that played suburb2 in the last season didn't even hear of it before it was on the maplist.

Well that's my two cents, like anyone cares, over...
We have 2 or 3 3rd party maps on our server. Unfortunately, noone or not all have these maps and the server empties out. We also play Paradise in TS. Its a great map to play TS on, if not for the spawn points being a bit fuxored.

Its great to have a variety of maps in a rotation as well as in league play, but the real truth is that SOMEONE needs to really study the maps and find the ones that make for good play in leagues and or ladders.

Does anyone ever read map reviews? Or even try new maps? Hell, I think most of the community that doesnt have a map will go to a server that has one of the most polpular maps instead. sigh......

lol yeah you guys do well on huge maps cause you practice it regularly.....

On Sands I used an sr8 for the first 5 minutes of map 2 and killed 4 guys on the way into your base only having to find 6 waiting for us. Even IF we miraculously killed all 6 in 20 seconds and grabbed your flag wed have at the very least 2-3 respawning before we made it out of the base. Now lets say by some stroke of luck we killed all 6 of you again before we left. You would STILL have enough time to respawn, finish us off and cut off our flag carrier.

I guess it was all your "practice" that kept the match close, regaurdless of the k/d ratios that were GINORMICALLY in our favor?!?!?

I can only imagine a match on Intermodal.

That's what I said. We also do well on other 'lesser' played maps like Suburb2 and Dville in recent times.

I think it was probably the size of the map that kept it close. Had we played you on Turnpike or Algiers it would have been nothing short of rape. As I said, these kind of maps *do* give clans with good teamwork a better chance to cap more and win.

-x-'s main talent IMHO was in kills and that allows you to cap easier and therefore win more matches. Larger maps do require teams bring out other skills in order to win and give teams a chance over the 'leet' clans. (Flags > Kills™)

Obviously you can only imagine it. Unless -x- comes out of hibernation and we'll take ye on

wow, i didnt know camping a 500 foot tunnel ladder and a huge flag base with a million camp spots requires skill

and being able to die and respawn at your flag before the enemy can get there isnt called teamwork...its called lame map

The map requires different skills than the likes of Algiers where you can cap in 3-4 seconds, and caps are usually a solid team effort.

You can die and respawn at your flag before the enemy get there on a plethora of Urban Terror maps. Are they all lame too?
lol...
dying IN YOUR SPAWN and being able to respawn before whoever killed you gets to the flag.

20 second respawn isn't fun, it can't go higher either...
apparently sands is a good map if you want to give weaker teams a chance to win because it doens't test a team's skill like it should

Of course it tests a teams skill. 2 clans playing on the same (symmetrical) map have EQUAL chance to win it, despite opponents respawning at the flag. Tactics and other elements of gameplay come into play a whole lot more than other maps like where the amount of kills is the main factor in dictating who will win. It's a test of different skill other than 'aim' or a well timed nade in the right place.

I don't know how thick your skull is exactly but you seem to have trouble accepting that what I am saying is right. If you don't like playing it, thats your business however, you should be mature enough to accept that larger maps (quite rightly) have a place in the game and in competition map lists. End of story.
bigger, slower paced maps are ok but sands, intermodal, and eagle [btw who voted this map for season play ;/] are WAY off the deepend
you dont see the super fast small maps in leagues [oz, 27, koth] so likewise there shouldnt be any of the super slow big maps also

Timing your attack against the opposition (if they are camping or otherwise), and safely escorting your flag carrier home when they come after him is the skill for sands.
thread's dead
it's not in the map rotation (for good reason) which is all that matters
ya but NN has a ladder match on this lame map

just delete this map from twl tnx
