Cancel week 4?

I'm obviously too late in my suggestion; I just read the latest news post. But considering the current state of affairs it would seem as though the best thing to do would be to cancel or postpone the league matches for this week. The two reasons for this suggestion being:

Omaha
- As expressed in this forum just about everyone strongly dislikes this map and agrees that it is not appropriate for organized match play. Not only because of the horrible balance of gameplay but also because of the flaws and exploits that have been found recently.

1.3 Patch
- I know that most of my clan has already upgraded as well as our server. While I did make a backup copy of the 1.2 server, it nevertheless will be a considerable hassle for my clan (and I would suspect others) to revert back.

With the current mixture of patch confusion and dislike over Omaha why doesn't the TWL just scratch this week's league match?

That would suck :-) I gave up a hockey ticket to a game this Thursday so I could be there for |FS|s league match. I'd be unimpressed to find out that instead of going to a hockey game I'd be watching TV ;-)

As far as Omaha and League go I'm going to leave it in place simply because changing it at such short notice will cause nothing but disarray.

On the ladder side, I can create a vote to see if Omaha is a candidate for removal.

Patch wise? Until Dice fixes the bugs with the 1.3 patch I cannot and will not endorse the patch. Plain and simple if I did I'd be condoning exploiting bugs and cheats.

What about running week 4 as an exhibition week. There are issues with the popularity of the assigned map (note, this map is out for season 2) and the patch has sort of killed us all. If we use it as an exhibition teams will not be penalized if a match cant take place.

Just a thought.

Ok..I'l throw my 2 sense (lol) into ring. By no means do I want to cause any more headaches then this week has already caused, but I was thinking perhaps maybe this week could be "postponed" as well. There is just too much confusion out there as to what is acceptable, what isn't, what is an exploit, what isn't, etc..

My proposal for the wise and all-knowing leaders of this organization (wipes brown off of nose) is to postpone this week or make it an "exhibition only" and extend the season one more week. This would be an excellent opportunity to include one of the maps from RtR as the final week as a "makeup" if you will for Omaha. Just a thought.

Still no official word yet, but I have noticed EA is starting to remove 1.3 download sites. Maybe 1.31 ready..?

Exhibition week sounds like a great suggestion.

Reign: I'm not suggesting that we should use 1.3, but rather that all the confusion regarding the status of the patch as well as the fact that many people have it installed in order to play on their favorite pub will make it extremely difficult IMO for clans to play to their full potential on Thursday.

I agree, cancellation or postponement would have been nice.
Id also like to say that in my oppinion when teams are even Omaha is a rediculous map, and therefore is unfit for match play. Im sure that this will become more apperant at the end of the season when not a single team has won a round as the allied team. Itd be nice if the map was altered to be a bit more reasonable. Or at least not used in matchs as the team that gets to pick which side they start on is going to be the team that wins the match

Okay so let me get this right then...Week 4 is an exhibition match, i understand this...but are we supposed to play it with the 1.2 or 1.3 patch...Just so we know when we set our server up for the match...?

THis is such F***ING BULLS**T. We have been crying to have the map removed for weeks now. The day before u decide it is gonna be an exhibition. OMFG! Do you have a bunch of kids running this league. The community has been crying out over this map and nothing gets done. Now we practice and get ready for the match and you say it will just be an exdibition. IMHO that is BS! Play the map and remove it afterwards.

damn man...is it really that deep? I think you need to find a stress relieving activity, like work or something, obviously video games aren't doing it for ya...

Enjoy the match and have fun on the map. Simple as that. The main reason for the change to exhibition is the 1.3 patch and the release of RtR that is simply going to screw up things. You put in the effort, thats great. Have fun. It is, after all, a game.

while i dont agree w/the level of maturity used in NERV's post, I do have to agree that this is not the way to go. Servers move back to 1.2 with ease, as do clients.

You said Omaha would be used, even after all the bitching and moaning, and then you do a 180 the day before we're supposed to play. Sure we're still playing it, but it's now "optional" and we prepared for no reason.

We know its a game, but if you want your league to be some uncompetitive just-have-fun league then good luck to you, but you wont be taken seriously. Your comment basically says "hey, practice all you want, but it doesnt matter, because its just about fun". Its also about competition. Hell, most of my clan practices arent fun at all, but come match time when we are ready we have a great time. But not when the league just says the match no longer counts, sorry you put all that work in... CAL has pissed me off many times, but they wouldnt be dumb enough to cancel a match the day before they were scheduled. I am seriously dissapointed with the way TWL handled this.

Sorry guys been having a bad day. Yes I was a liitle stressed. I apologize for me rant. I could have been a little more tactful with what I said. think everyone got the point. Why decide now when this could have been done awhile ago. That's fine but now we have one less game that is going to count towards sonmeone's standing. Yopu just cut the season short.

Again sorry for going off like that. Damn english teacher pushes all my negative buttons.

well our opponent decided that they'd rather use the time to practice for official matches rather than "optionally" play us.
