New CS:S Euro League!
Teamwarfare.com is excited to announce sign-ups for the new Counter Strike: Source European League. This league was created in response to the popularity of the CS:S Euro Ladders and you can expect this league to begin competition in the next 2 or 3 weeks. There are already more than 40 teams signing up, so join today and make sure that you don't miss out!

The Counter Strike Source League that is opening is the:

  • Euro 5v5 Season 1 League -
Each team will play the other teams in their division twice. Each win is worth 3 points, ties worth 1 point, losses worth 0 points, and no-shows -1 points. The top ranked teams in each division will compete in a Quarter Final and Semi Final, with the divisional Semi Finalists then competing a Conference Championship, and then lastly in the League Finals. Matches will take place by default on every Thursday at the default time of 8:30pm CET/CEST (TWL EU time).
The map schedule is as follows:

The map for Pre-season is CS:S-de_train, there will be 8 maps for Regular season, and for the playoffs you can expect CS:S-de_train, CS:S-de_aztec, and CS:S-de_dust2. There will be NO substituting of maps and the home team will be Counter-terrorist first and will have server choice. The CS:S admins always advise that you read the full rule set before actual competition begins.

Since 2001, Teamwarfare has been a competition site designed and operated by, and for, hardcore gamers. Therefore, it is fitting that Teamwarfare keep expanding to fit the needs of fellow gamers in other parts of the world. Keeping with that ideal, the main goal of this new league is to allow CS:S players from Europe to compete at the same level of competition as the players from North America.

Good Luck! Have fun! and remember that your questions and comments about this new CS:S Euro League are always welcome in the CS:S Forum. If you have a pressing question that needs to be addressed, you can contact a CS:S admin in the #twl_cs channel on IRC.

Meh, no reply, guess the thing with the map choice is set in stone.
Sorry, I was at a LAN and missed your question (although I do remember reading your reply. Perhaps you added the question later?).

Italy and Office are not in the league because they are CS_ maps. There was a discussion about it but I can't find it. It comes down to the roundtimes being too short for CS_ maps, camping by the hostages, shooting all the hostages, etc.
Those were the arguements brought up by the players.

I looked at most of the other leagues out there to get an idea about what was the norm etc, and I didn't find other leagues that DID use CS_ maps.

Hence the choice not to include CS_ maps. It was considered seriously, brought up for opinions and shot down by the players

me me me me me! !

It's tempting, I'll ask the guys if they are interested.

Top post updated to reflect the new timetable that TWL has moved to.
Matches are now scheduled to start at 8.30pm CET/CEST (TWL EU time).

We currently have 2 full divisions, but we expect more teams once we advertised outside of TWL. The league will probably start with the pre-season match on April 14th. A more specific announcement will be made later.

Please fill up your rosters!

whats that in GMT?

also after pre season u have alot of map choose is that rorational or selection

sorry about spelling kinda drunk ^^
Check the bottom of the page, it tells you what the current TWL EU-time is (which is CET/CEST).
GMT (or more likely what you mean is UK-time) is -1 all throughout the year).
This EU time is actually 2 hours above GMT.

(during the summertime)
However, it's only 1 hour above UK/Portugal

Regular season will be 8 weeks, with the maps being played in that order. No changing of maps is allowed.

Pre-season match will most likely be on april 14th!
A mass mail has been sent to the teams/captains. A few of them bounced, so here is the mail:

Subject: TeamWarfare CS:S Euro league

Dear team founder/captain,

The first TeamWarfare CS:S Euro league is about to start! I would like to ask your attention for the following:

1) Rosters
Some teams have not got a full roster yet. If you are one of these teams, please have your players join your team before the pre-season match to avoid any problems.
The roster has to be filled with at least 5 players by the first REGULAR season match. If this requirement is not met, we have no other choice but to remove you from this seasons league. You will be able to rejoin when your roster meets the required amount.

To have members join a teams roster, provide them a link to your team profile. In the profile they can select "join" beneath a specific roster to join it.

2) Pre-season match
The first pre-season match will be scheduled for Thursday April 14th at 8:30pm CET/CEST (TWL EU Time). If you are not familiar with the times, I would like to refer you to this thread:
http://www.teamwarfare.com/forums/showthread.asp?forumid=269&threadid=218993
The clock is also shown at the bottom of the TeamWarfare website, so you can determine your own offset (if any).

This pre-season match will give you a chance to get used to the TeamWarfare matches should you be unfamiliar with them.

If all goes as planned and there are no major issues, the week after this pre-season match the regular season will start!

Thank you for your attention,
GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN!

Yup!
You are free to try to arrange a different time/date (within the specifications of the rules). However, if you can't come to an agreement the default time stands.

If you know up front you can't make ANY thursday, it will be a problem. In my personal experience with other games, league games are not often rescheduled.
Why does it say next to our first match 5/14/05. I thought this started in April and not May!!! sort out this problem please, we are confused.
It's an error & has now been corrected. Should all say 4/14/2005.
There was an error in the league rules. Every team will play each other only once. The main season has been changed from 8 maps to 7 maps to reflect this. AZTEC has been removed from the main season (but is still in the playoffs).

Sorry guys, miscalculation on my side!

On the bright side, everyone should have their pre-season match scheduled. We currently have 4 full divisions (32 teams), with more joining and some dropping out no doubt
AWWWWWWWWWWW, why aztec????? Couldnt you get rid of one of the worse maps, like de_train or de_tides, they both suck.

It's still in the playoffs, so i suggest you start practicing

(the thing is, everyone likes different maps. Can't please everyone)

Thats unfair. I WANT AZTEC IN THE NORMAL SCHEDULE!!!!
I just added my team to the competition (Recharged) and its not showing up on the list of teams. Why is that?

You get added to a pool of teams - the League admin then assigns those teams to a division. You'll see your team listed in there shortly.

I assigned you to a division now.
Thanks, but there is another problem now. We are in a division on our own. There is no one else in our division. What is going to happen?
You only just signed up and all the other divisions are full at the moment.
We are hoping for some more teams, but without a doubt some teams will drop out at the beginning of the first season. We will see what we can do, don't worry!
ok, thanks
I have a big problem at the moment. My team (Recharged) has to play "The section assault" but it seems like everyone on that team is French and I'm having trouble setting up stuff with them.

Would someone mind telling me what I'm supposed to do in this situation.

They are required to use english. There's not much that needs arranging though. Just need to select the server basically, unless you want to deviate from defaults.
I'll check your comms
I think I got it all fixed up with them. One or two of their players speak some English and with the small amout of French I have we got by.

Sweet, good work!
With regard to that it wasn't easy setting things up. I may have fixed things up for now, but whats going to happen to the French team when they have to play some other team? Things may not work out that well.

I told them in the matchcomms that english is required. I can't do much more than what I posted in there. They will have to sort it out I'm afraid.

I mean, the rules, the forums, the website, the announcements, the emails, EVERYTHING is in english. If they don't know english it will be a problem.

NOTICE (this has been sent to all teams that did not meet the roster requirement already):

To prevent a lot of problems and no-shows during the regular season, we will require your team to have at least 5 members registered. The deadline to meet this requirement is set to saturday April 16th 23:59 TWL EU-time (CET/CEST). We would love to see you play in our league, so please fill your rosters and make it a good season!

Another reminder is that the first (pre-season) match is next thursday! Use your matchcomms available in the admin panel to communicate with your opponent, for example about server ips and passwords. And get your teammates registered on your roster of course

A note to new times that have signed up / are signing up: The same goes for you, get your rosters up to spec. Sunday we will be going through all the teams and reorganizing the divisions for the regular season.
