Remember all Euro matches are still scheduled in GMT time (not summer time).

Update: The default time of the europe league has been changed from 8pm to 7pm to reflect that most of europe has changed to summer time, so the relative time stays the same. Team's are ofcause still allowed to agree on a different date/time.

Was about to bring it up. Most EU players relate to CET anyway. Only Britain use GMT...
And now suddenly 8 PM GMT = 22.00 CET :-O
Go figure....

GMT does NOT adhere to summertime. According to you own website GMT = UTC. British Summer Time is BST (GMT+1).

Also FYI:

GMT is sometimes called Greenwich Meridian Time because it is measured from the Greenwich Meridian Line at the Royal Observatory in Greenwich. Remember: Clocks Spring Forward & Fall Back (Fall = Autumn) - but GMT remains the same all year around. GMT is the Universal Time (or UTC) for the World.

Anyway the Europe League/ladders stays in GMT (or UTC if you prefer to call it that).

1) Hmmm maybe for a week, until they select new times.
2) Don't care, play on the US ladder.
3) No, apart from you

What I will do is to change the "default" Euro league time from 8pm to 7pm, so the relative time stays the same.

You are correct.
All I said based on the fact that GMT would adhere to DST. Which is what I was asking all along, on irc as well, but no-one corrected me, so this is why I kept asking all this.

I assume this means that the US times are now out of reach for me. I guess we'll drop from that ladder then. Quite a shame, since it was a lot of fun.... Over 17 matches.. Oh well..

I wonder if you admins get a lot of problems this week for matches that were already scheduled sometime GMT
Thanks for clearing it up!

so how about a change? to CET?
-=NordBat=-Steelfire
make a poll on it as well, and we see how it end??

ill vote for cet anyway....
CET!
What is the difference: We use GMT or we use CET?

And if we change remember that right now central Europe is not using CET but CEST.
yeah CET looks good

GMT does not keep into account DST, that is what started this discussion
After some research

Wintertime means CET is GMT+1.
Summertime means CET is GMT+2.

Changing the Euro match times to CET will make it less confusing.

You got my vote...
mine too (obviously) but I would like to add a vote for the americans to change it to EDT in stead of EST (they have the same issue). Then again, no american has yet cleared anything up so I'm not 100% sure
See new thread.

I don't understand why TWL doesn't switch to BST/CET/EDT...
Now u guys have to change scheduling hours every time the DST comes into effect..
Post edited by Deleon at 4/1/2003 5:13:52 PM
As long as people are aware of how Daylight Savings works its perfectly reasonable to be using GMT. Afterall, GMT is universal and constant. But because people know different things; all, nothing, parts.. we get problems.

Shadows has already mentioned the possibility of switching to CET, it may happen. Using a time base that takes into account DST should solve most problems.
Why al the commotion.
Didn't the UK switch too summertime too.
So their clock is set 1 hour forward too.
So GMT becomes GMT+1??
It just stays GMT. I think i'm gonna make good arrangements on times on this one.

Skinny
No Skinny. That's the whole point. GMT does not adhere to DST! Keep this in mind. If u schedule at 9pm GMT, this means it's is 10pm BST (British time) and 11pm CET..
From ladderinfo:

Matches can be played at 7:00, 7:30, 8:00, 8:30, 9:00, 9:30, 10:00 - GMT

This gives us 21.00 cet as the earliest option. Kinda late ..
Well since everyone puts his clock one hour forward it basically stays the same. Only the times on TWL aren't doing this. So If you say it's 7 PM GMT and you live in the UK, JUST PLAY AT 7 PM. Quite simple. Why letting 8 PM GMT become 9 PM. Just keep it the same. And make good agreements in your match commo.

Hehe oh skinny ur guys were 1 hour early on 2vs2 tonite, but im sure u will get that gmt figured out eventually

-Peace
Nope you were 1 hour late.
You guys all say the GMT doesn't change. Fine by me but set the matchtimes from 6 pm to 21 pm
Or calculate it too that in your head.
So a 7pm match is on your clock 7 pm if you're in the uk.
And not 8 pm. that's kinda making it hard on everybody.
Just think that the GMT has forwarded 1 hour also.
Is it that hard. Otherwise all the times go one hour up then it says on the match info. So when it says 7pm and you're in the UK. Play at 7 PM and not calculate it too 8 pm. That's absurd. We all switched our clocks so follow those. Just think the GMT has forwarded too. Alot more easier.

Skinny
No Skinny.
Sigh.
Read all posts again please.
You agree with what we say (that times should either be set back 1 hour on TWL scheduling, or that TWL should use BST or CET), but u don't seem to understand that..

GMT HAS NOT FORWARDED, WHICH IS WHAT TWL SAYS. THAT'S THE RULE. U can't have 1 team (v75th) think it didn't and the other that it did. That's why they posted it..

To clear things up a bit.

During Winter UK is GMT.
During Summer UK is GMT+1 or BST.

During Winter The rest of EU is GMT+1 or CET.
During Summer The rest of EU is GMT+2 or CEST.

GMT = Greenwich Mean Time.
BST = Brittish Summer Time.
CET = Central European Time.
CEST = Central European Summer time.

Let's say the Match is at 20:00 GMT.

During Winter UK would play at 20:00 and the rest of EU at 21:00.
During Summer UK would play at 21:00 and the rest of EU at 22:00.

UK is NOT, I repeat, NOT in GMT time during summer.

So at the moment, if it sais 20:00 GMT, UK will play at +1 and the rest of EU at +2.

I'll get back to you when we change to Winter Time again.

Any Questions?
Read here: http://greenwichmeantime.com

---

The easiest thing TWL can do now is to change the first GMT time, 7:00 GMT, to 5:00 GMT.
To change it from GMT to CET during winter and CEST during summer is a little bit more difficult I think.

But a better and easier to understand time would help of course.
Plz change it from 7 pm to 5 pm.
Or i will make another arrangement with the teams i battle.
The way you guys set is absurd.
Deleon i get the point, don't be worried. I just made my point clear. If you just left it without saying something about it there would be no probs at all. You just think it's still GMT and you pretend your clock is also on GMT still. So if you're on GMT+1 you do the official matchtime +1. Going from the aspect that GMT is the time shown on the TWL site. Then there would be no problem but that's not the TWL way i guess.

Skinny
I have no idea what u mean.
Anyway, for UK add +1, for western EU add +2. They oughta change schedule-times tho
i mean that you should consider the GMT that there is now as BST. Get my drift. So GMT = BST at least for these matches. Much easier.

Skinny
Well, GMT isn't BST so I'm gonna go by http://www.greenwichmeantime.com
never gonna work. GMT is GMT, end of story.
Another fkn match starts early and supposedly I "no-show" while I'm the only one that actually DID get the time right. How damn annoying can it get!!!!!!!!!!

MAKE THIS STICKY AGAIN PLEASE, IT'S GETTING *VERY* ANNOYING TO HAVE TO DOUBLECHECK ALL THE TIMES IN CET OR BST IN THE MATCHCOMMS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hello to you too

"Our" [SAS] was founded on the official AA Forum by [SAS] Zeuxis when 1.0.0 came out 4th July 2002. I have newer heard about "Cacia[SAS]" before now, so we are not going to start changing anything ever, so get used to it

What i meant with the summertime thing was: On the match date it says GMT. Switch that with BST and there is no problem. And even if you can't change it. Just THINK that it is BST. So if you play at 8 GMT the UK'ers play at 8 BST.
Not that hard eh?? I thought so too.

Skinny
I have no proble with recalculating time, but i found many many peeps do have, thats why i posted about that swatch internet time, it would save as all tis disputes and posting

It's not hard, but it IS incorrect and therefore should not be used.
If you change the GMT to BST there is nothing incorrect about it.
And i would be playing at 8 the earliest except 9 PM.
That makes a huge differnce for me.

Skinny
Yes but GMT != BST. It will annoy and confuse the people who actually do know the difference (which is among others me since this all started)
