I Present you Mr.Clean's TOP 30 AA Competitive Clan List!

The past couple of months have brought some tough times for many of the top competitive clans, losing many members to other games, causing serious inactivity. All this inactivity has led to several teams hanging it up, the most notable of those teams being Instruments of God. IoG is considered by most the best competitive clan to ever play this game. It is the ultimate goal for many top AA players to one day play for IoG. Several other top 20 teams decided to step away from AA and/or give up competing. Whether it be due to inactivity, or because the players don’t like the way the game plays anymore. From patch to patch, the Devs try to make AA more and more realistic and in doing so less enjoyable to play for many. For the time being we’ll no longer see 12oz, iNNovation, Protect and Serve and Gods Unwanted Children in competition, but I’m sure some will be back at some point. Not all the news is bad, with these teams falling out, other teams have been created and have showed they can be top competitors. All that being said, over the past 6-7 weeks, there’s been a hell of a lot of matches to tabulate. The second half of the TWL 5v5 season and CAL 4v4 season have been completed, and the playoffs for both are just about complete.. Once again all the matches used are from the 4v4 Obj Ladder, 6v6 Obj Ladder, 5v5 League, and 4v4 CAL, from Mar 1st 2007, to Apr 18th 2007.

Mr.Clean's Top 30 North American AA Competitive Team Report for April 18th 2007.

After falling short many times in the past, overRated put their playoff jinx behind them, and they did it in style. Not only did they win the first ever TWL 5v5 Invite League, they also won the first ever CAL 4v4 Invite League (since last CAL-I season winner was overturned). overRated beat .ki^ in the TWL Invite finals in 2 sets by a 6-4 6-4 score. Their CAL Invite finals win was quite unexpected as they took down Instruments of God on Pipeline by a score of 8-5. These 2 impressive feats caused oR to rise to the top and finally grab the #1 spot on the toplist. Rising to the #2 spot was Slow Reaction, even though they fell short in the playoffs in both leagues losing to overRated both times. sR had very impressive seasons in both invite leagues and are deserving of second place. just Cause project rounds out the top 3 after falling 2 spots from #1. jCp hasn’t been as involved as they have in the past which hurt them in the standings since there wasn’t much to judge by. They did have one impressive win against oR mid-season in CAL on WC, but then they got knocked out in the 1st round of the playoffs by IoG. Coming in 4th place is .ki^ after an impressive TWL 5v5 season where they ended up runners-up after losing to oR in the finals. The only other big moves amongst teams in the top 10 were by Global Revolution who moved up 7 spots in position #8, and unrestricted who also moved up 7 spots into position #9. Both these teams had impressive CAL main seasons and made it to the finals.

In the middle of the pack, between positions 11-20, there was a bit of shuffling. Redemption slipped a few spots into 11th Team JSOC had a huge jump of 11 spots into 14th position after upset wins over SARS, overkill and Unreasonable Ownage. Les Frogz moved up 4 more spots into 16th place. The biggest jump of all was by meta who cracked the top 20 at 17th place after a jump of 13 positions. They dominated the TWL Open League and they had a combined record of 18-3 over the 3 ladders/leagues they are participating in. Hazard also had a big jump of 10 spots in 18th place largely due to their upset wins in CAL main over Protect and Serve and Fight Club.

In the last group of 10, 160th Soar moved up 5 spots to #21, and almost all of the rest of the teams weren’t on the last list. Unknown Factor finally cracked the top 30 coming in at #22. Followed by Ataxia who has run up the ranks in the 4v4 ladder quickly with most of their members being from the old BmFb squad. 2n Gaming comes in at #24 thanks to an 8-1 overall record and an upset over Knights of the Round Table in the CAL-o playoffs.
In 25th spot comes Volatilis Infensus who are back on the list once again. Rounding out the last 4 teams we have mischief, Nexus, Fun Underground and last but not least Complexion.

With both TWL and CAL playoffs winding down we’ll see some new champions soon. These top 30 teams as well as many others that were close to making the list are what’s keeping competitive AA alive, and will hopefully continue to do so for as long as they can. Congrats to all the teams that made the list and good luck to all in future AA competition.

Ranking Methodology  ^top

These rankings are mostly based on matches against other top teams from Feb 28th 2007, to Apr 18th 2007. Most important is quality wins against teams ranked above you (at that time) and bad losses to teams ranked below you (or unranked). League matches have higher implications than do Ladder matches. I also removed the “Tie” column and replaced it with “FFL” which is for forfeit losses. FFL have much less effect on your score than regular losses. Forfeit wins count as a win, but zero RW/RL. FFW’s by admin decision don’t count because most of the time that is from the other teams captains not noticing the challenge within 48 hours.

These rankings cover the 4v4, 5v5 and 6v6 leagues, whichever is running at the time, as well as the 4v4 obj, 6v6 obj, and 4v4 CAL League. No other ladders are included so matches in the special forces ladders, 2v2, and others are ignored. I’m considering adding HTGN next, but it would just give me more work so I’m not sure yet

So, if you are not on this list and think you should be, well all you have to do is join these ladders and leagues and beat the teams that are on the list.

Thanks and Great timing

Another great writeup. I can't really imagine the time you have to spend tracking different teams and the matches they play -- nonetheless, thanks for continuously doing this.
gj like always
we're not worth being on a list. we're horrible. But on a funny note, we made the list twice. go us.

km thought it would be funny to bring that old article back up.

adding HTGN would be a bad move since HTGN isn't a real AA league you might as well add the tracker league if you are going to do that

Wondering why you didn't include ET in the top list since they won twl-inters and beat a top 10 seeded team.

No HTGN.
why would he include euros in a NA list? and if he was going to they would decidedly have to be ranked #1 so that they wouldn't feel left out anymore and would just go away

From what I understand, they had quite a few NA's on their roster and play in the finals match.

Skill wise redemption is 2 low.
