Camping

n : the act of encamping and living in tents in a camp

Literally taken, there are no Tents in AA, therefore Camping can not possible be.

Taken literally in gaming terms, Camping can not exist in AA. Camping was a term created in Quake 1 / 2 to describe a person who waited at player respawn points / weapon respawn points and slaughtered anyone who should be so unfortunate to be there.

In AA, there are no weapon / player respawns.
In AA, the defense's job is to DEFEND.
in AA, the assaulters job is to ASSAULT, with an emphasis on LIVING.

If the assaulter feels chances of team success are best if the assaulter stays behind and kills all the defenders who are confused (Example: Running OUTSIDE in Weapons_Cache) not only is this individual intelligent, skillfull and a important contributor to his team, this person is also not a CAMPER.

am·bush Pronunciation Key (mbsh)
n.
The act of lying in wait to attack by surprise.
A sudden attack made from a concealed position.

Those hiding in order to attack by surprise.
The hiding place used for this.
A hidden peril or trap.

That assaulter is known as an Ambusher. Which is NOT the same thing as a CAMPER.

Thank you, just wanted to clear it up
Good post. This definitely needed clarification early on, and I believe this post serves its purpose.
There are tents in insurgent camp. I just realized I've been a very naughty camper!

Although that is true, the existance of those kinds of people slow down the game. Who wants to play the whole time limit? That would be an hour for each game.

yes its going to be very sad day in the army real soon.

sarge: private go hunker down in that trench and let no enemy get by alive

Private: ahh sarge thats just no fun let me go and run in.

sarge: uhh yah sure private

"private gos in guns blazing and before he sees one enemy he is shot down with a hail of bullets"

afterwards

peter: welcome my son

private: what do you mean i can't respawn next game?

bugspray i know what you are saying but why stick with a game that requires time in stead of run around until your dead. plenty of other games that fit that bill
This is not a game meant soloely for 'Rambos'. There is absolutley nothing wrong with staying put and will not condemn any team that does it. This is 'reality' based game. And reality I have sat in one spot for 96 hours waitng for the enemy (with and without a tent).
Hello is the mission of the assault team to complete the objective...so if you camp on part of the map, live, but don't complete the objective then you disobeyed orders and ruined the point of the map! Am I correct or not? I understand if you want to camp for 3 mins and then assault, but thats different than real camping(i.e. choosing life over the mission objective by staying in one spot until time runs out).
that only applies to Team Objective, not Combat

ture But if all run and get naded how does that help. If I'm sniping I want a spotter some one to cover my butt as I pick of the other team

It is nice to be remembered, But it is far cheaper to be forgotten

Excellent post! Everyone that serves or has served knows that as the aggressor, there are times you have to "camp"... That's called using your head and attempting to stay alive. Maybe some should try being part of an advance team to secure a sight for their unit. Froze my butt off, but secured the sight and waited for hours for them show up, then stayed at my post for another 4 hours (All in a ice storm). That was real life.. This is a game..

Finding a good place to wait before going for the objective, has it's advantages. I love impatient Defenders.

what i REALLLLY hate is peole on Bridge who try really hard to get onto a defese team, then shout 'hooray, im on defense!!!', but when the round starts they run off to the arch and get killed.

what the hell is the point of being a defender if yuor using assualting tactics?!???
