I'm really getting tired of seeing saracastic insults being posted towards individual players and teams on the forums.

And I am not singling anyone out.I am refering to EVERYONE- players, MO's,moderators and staff.

I have already warned the staff, now I am warning everyone else. Staff will get relieved, players will get forum banned. So, if you find yourself staring at a screen that says contact Vlasic, don't email with 'Well, he said this about me so I said that about him.' Bullsh*t. Two wrongs don't make a right.

Keep your personal comments and opinions about players and teams to yourself or on your forums.

Why do u agree? The Fin-Swe sarcasm fight is a centuries old tradition and you would be willing to throw it all away?
I'd rather have it you guys deal out personal warnings, in stead of this.
How I do I know if my joking is out of line? I don't. Unless i'm being told it is.

Do what most people do, put a so that the eprson realizes youa re joking. But, there's a point where even jokes can become insulting. Just because it may not bother you to have someone do it to you does not mean it may not bother someone if you do it.

I can point to several threads where people were 'just joking' and it almost turned into a flame war. We don't have the time or resources to sit and read every post exactly as its made to inform people what may or may not be an insult.

Ok, makes sense.
I'll do my best to refrain from questionably funny remarks (tho I guess that's always the case when I make a joke, they never seem to work out )

don't worry! we will not!
Ok i have to agree. Prime example i was in NYC for New year and then stayed for a week after. About 90% of the Americans we met just didn't understand sarcasm at all, and being English we can barely form a sentance without sarcasm in it. So while we were trying to have a laugh with people in the bars, they all either thought we were wierd (OK kinda true) or most thought we were making fun of them (not true). So we ended up deciding it was better of not saying anything sarcastic at all, yes it was hard and took some fun out of it for us but then we didn't offend any more people either.
Now i can be as rude as i like to Deleon as i know he knows im not being serious. It really boils down to common sense, do you know that they will definetely understand you are joking. If you're not sure, then you shouldn't be posting it.
just my two cents

Within reasonable (TWL) limits

U can be rude all u want on IRC in our channel or on teamspeak. I'm creating an archive of teamspeak recordings, feel free to help me expand it

Why are [DOD] sticking their noses in all the time ""
This what gets annoying:

People complain about the official forums and the flaming, yet when we try to be the opposite we get bitched at.

We get bitched at if we don't do something about insulting posts, but if we forum ban someone they bitch because they were only insulting the person that insulted them.

People complain about all the locked posts, yet complain about people insulting other people.

When we don't do anything we're biased, when we do something we're forums nazi's.

Here's a plan- all the people who are unhappy with the way the forums are run email me. I will put you on the staff as a moderator for two weeks. In that period of time you are totally responsible for the forums. That includes all the associated email that comes with it, as well as you and your team being put under a microscope for everything you do or say. You will be held to the standards youa re so vocal about as a community member.

Sound good? Remember, one wrong post, one wrong comment and the entire community gets to point at you. Your standing in the community will be directly affected by your behaviour as a moderator, because everyone will remember how you handled things.

And I'm dead serious about this. You are quick to complain and judge, here's your chance to show the community how perfect you can run things.

Good Idea.
Two wrongs don't make a right, and two rights don't make a left, right?

For the record, two rights would make a backwards.

When i used to live in Montreal, driving around downtown would sometimes mean making 3 right turns to make a left.

i have an idea. start a "flame Rhitty" thread. seriously. let people rip/tear/insult/flame me. why you say? let them get it off thier chests. i dont care, whilst others obviously do. aside from one person who is no longer here, i have never had a run in with any player on twl. why? cuz when they insult me i dont take it personally. watch what you say to others, because they are not all as tolerant as myself.

ok, who is gonna start the "flame rhitty" thread? have fun with it. call me names, call my momma names or whatever, just dont call me late for dinner
