Non Clan members in ladder matches

What do you guys feel about allowing a clan that is short on players fielding a team with some non clan members in?

My feeling is no, the rules are quite specific, but we have been challenged and asked if the attacker can field other players to make up numbers.

I dont want to turn down a match or claim forfeit if I can help it, but if a clan cant field a squad, why join a ladder.

Maybe they intend to add him/her to their ladder roster but even in that case he still wouldn't be eligible to play in the upcoming match.

That would be acceptable to me to go ahead and let that person play... but to each their own.

The rules are specific but at least they've brought it to your attention before hand. Usually in this case a team will bring a person who's not been properly added to their roster and just sneak them in. If no one questions it... then it's still no reason for the other team to call foul for the fact that it is "Each team's responsiblity to check roster assignments before the match"

Gentlemen's agreements are binding so long as both parties agree in match comms. With so few teams on the ladder. Might help to be a little flexible in this case. But I'd hope that there plan is to permanetly add this person to their roster and not make this a one time deal.

Just my 2 cents
Thanks Crash, I suppose if the guy is playin for a GR clan, but not on TWL, the point is moot.

I'll poll my guys but I guess we will play.....
If a team cannot field enough, they should NEVER just give a friend who isn't registered with the team a name to replace a missing teammate. That is called "smurfing" and is strongly condemned.

If you are short and want to bring a friend in, the best idea is to just talk with the other team's captain. In most cases, they are happy to obligue. The same goes for a teammate who is not registered on the website yet.

I hope this sounds fair to everyone.
yeah, thats smurfing/cheating/scabing/mercing/whatever, its against the rules. It is against ALL ladder rules. PERIOD.

I hate to do that to, but I would rather take a forfeit than take a loss from someone not registered.

I might say "YES" if you were on the squads website Roster.
