Disputed Match: Replay This Match

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2005-03-21 · 17 posts
A change is about to be made that will effect ALL TWL CoD:UO Ladders. At this time a vote is being called and everyone needs to be apart of this. [Vote Here]

The Issue:
When a match is disputed and the Admin decison is to replay the match, both teams are already familiar with each others strategies on that map.

The Change:
Teams will now play the default "Dispute Map" if their match was disputed and the decision by the Admin was to replay it.

Please note the second vote option is to default an alternative map for matches already set up on the "Dispute Map"

The choice of maps were randomely selected. This vote option will be used for ALL TWL CoD:UO Ladders.

Thank you.

i voted but your lists dont work...

base assault cant use most of the maps listed

classic and regular ctf are (or should be) completely different and use different maps... classic would be good with cassino, yet regular better on berlin (two of your choices). also you have some maps which dont have ctf counterparts (unless your talking about the map pack versions - but thats not what you listed... harbor is very different then uo_harbor).

seems like your list was geared more towards snd - cuz most of the choices fit nicer into that.

Ditto what Dewi said. This was not very well thought out. These map choices cannot possibly go into effect for "All TWL Cod:UO Lassers". I say just let the map be chosen at random if that can be worked into the system.
Base Assualt has 5 available maps to choose from. With Classic gametypes and 2v2 there has to be alternatives to big maps. BaS Assault will have to have its own vote and will be available to vote on shortly.

Revised A.

My votes in, but I hope my team never has to deal with this.
I still say it is too limiting. You have 9 ladders, with 2 of them being "classic" style. A good map for regular ctf, is a bad map for classic. A good map for 8v8, is a bad map for 4v4. Of course this goes both ways...

Taking out only BAS still leaves 8 ladders with very different views on optimal maps (specially since theres 34 to choose from).

Some of those maps do not support all gametypes. I personally think a random map should be announced in Match comms along with the admins decision of a replay.
Why would there need to be a replay? Either the admin sees the cheat/exploit that is being disputed or they don't.

I don't get it.

me neither, any reason for disputing a match should end up in a forfeit/win for one of the teams
As a former admin myself, I do recall a few instances where the match was to be replayed. Its certainly a rare occurance, but sometimes it is necessary. Most of the disputes that are handled on a daily basis by the admins usually result in some sort of decision with a winner, but again, some situations would call for the match to be replayed. The most common would be an invalid server situation.

Again, its going to be a rare occurance, so just help the admins out and make a decision. They are doing us the favor for asking for our input here. All of your questions and concerns are good ones, but questioning the reasoning behind the change I don't think is helping. They see a reason for a change, and are looking to the community for opinions. The reason it may seem vague is because disputes are involved, which we all know is a touchy subject.

Im with you guys.

The map is to be played out and then a dispute be made. If there was no exploit then the result stands. If there was I assume the exploiting team would be punished with the loss.

If its questionable and one of the teams doesnt want to play the same map I say use the random generator. Assigning a designated map will/may favor one team or the other and takes away the chance of randomly generated maps (which is one of the nice and unique qualities of the ladder system)
Shouldnt all the maps be listed? Chose from the top vote getters for the appropriate ladders.

I didnt really play CoD and dont know many of these maps off hand.

I do know the all the UO maps which dont seem to be an option.
Hopefully this will help to give a better understanding.

1) The maps listed all support all gametypes except Base Assault. That is why Base Assault is being called a vote of its own.

2) The map selection was totally random without any thought to which is popular. Vote system can only hold 5 options.

3) Dawnville, Carentan, Depot, POW Camp, and Harbor are from the United Offensive Bonus Pak. We don't have any United Offensive Ladders currently running the Vanilla CoD maps.

4) Periodically a team will dispute a match and fail to realize that the were also in violation of the rules. Usually this is seen from a Counter Dispute sent be the other team. Once the dispute has been sent we as Admins cannot ignore what we see.

Thx Bounce

That makes sense. I hope this system will never have to be used. Nothing wrong with wishful thinking I suppose

If that is the case you may want to look at the 6v6 S&D Classic. All of the "vanilla" COD maps are listed as possible choices, we are playing one this week. If these are suppose to be the maps from the mappack someone needs to change the map names so everyone know which maps they really are.
