Hi All,

Just joined up after reinstalling TV...havent played it in a while but thats because I've always looked at playing it via LAN...now that I have my own internet connection I will be looking for some online games .

Quick question though, I notice in a lot of threads people bagging out TV over T2 and just wondering why? I have played T1, T2 and TV and while T2 has great gameplay, I find TV has really great gameplay as well as looking smick and just is really fun to play. So just wondering what other people's opinions are based on?

Cheers!

Craig
Save yourself the time and frustration. Just get T2. It's not that the overall game play is better(it still is). But you won't be forced to play with retards in T2. T:v is left with nothing but retards and polish people.
LOL, so people in T2 actually play as a team and take their gaming seriously...not just go around team killing or doing random things?

If so then yeah I'll have to get a copy of T2 as I prefer working together to achieve an objective and playing with other skilled gamers, people passionate about their game...not just f#@king around.

Although, are there any TV clans that have some strict guidelines so people that obviously don't care about playing the game properly get booted? Surely it can't be that hard for some serious TV gamers to get together over Hamachi and enjoy the game?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamachi

Cheers!

Craig
why wouldnt we just host a server quite a few people can easily.

but anyway T:V was fun at the start when arena was big

SWAT and INF ftw ;-) lol

it was also fun though when CTF started getting bigger.

either way the game has died and theres no point in really playing it, most people playing now either hack, or you could beat them with your hands behind you back, and a cg that shoots a bullet for everyone disc launcher shot.
For the exact reason we just talked about...a lot of idiots out there...either password protect the server, join a hamachi network (where u need a network address and password) or have a heavily administrated server that kicks anyone not in a clan, being in a clan saying that you've agreed to terms and conditions on gameplay and conduct in the clan servers.

I went to try an online game the other night, wasn't to bad...most people seemed to be playing properly but there weren't any servers in my country (Australia) so it was quite laggy.

If someone would put up a server with some basic rules of play Im sure it could become quite fun to play again.

Cheers!

Craig

PS...I went to join the one local server there, a Game Arena one (with no one in it ) and it kept saying I couldn't join as one of my files were unoriginal or corrupt. Its a legit copy owned from new and patched to 1.01 and thats all, what would be causing this? Thanks

Hi Valheru

The aussie T:V community resides here - http://www.team-vt.com/forum/index.php

There's not a lot of action on the GA server these days but have been thinking of having a set night for some gg's.

join over at vt, say g'day and let me know what file is causing you any issues joining GA

cheers
Thanks Dehav,

I'll definitely head over and join and once I get home I'll post up the message I get when trying to join.

Cheers!

Craig
For the record T2 has its ample share of retards.
t2 is bad, you can't ski. Horrible gameplay, can't go fast at all.
lolwat
there are still good games, but they are rare. there are enough skilled players left for 12v12 games but mainly its 8v8 on just one server. but if you are one of those 16 you dont really care about whats (not)happening on other servers. though weekends at night its not abnormal to have zero players on.
No shocklance, it's very satisfying to shove the fucker up someone's ass that's being a prick because you've snuck up on them using the...

No cloakpack.

Ever taken a transport with 6+ of your friends for a ride and all jet-jumped in at the same time on a target together in T:V?

Ever stripped 3 players of all their weapons with a concussion nade in T:V after they've killed you for the last word?

Killing people by running them down with the viper was a tactic.

The maps in T2 were huge and resulted in some good long matches.

You are incorrect.
Now this is funny. A T:V player complaining about T2 skiing.

there is no skiing in t2, its called bunnyhopping
shield pack + grapple + med armor = capout any map

welcome to 5 years ago, dont waste your time with TV, it only lasted about 9 months before competition was completely defunct.

T2 classic is the only thing you want if you didnt burn out on it already.

grapple ftw. most people never learned to use it well, including you. but im sure you are heroic at t2 having spent a decade playing it!
I never used the grapple.

I've been married and had children for years. I havent played any games in quite some time, and probably wont for a long time. I just like the TWL community so i still post here so morons like you can say stupid shit like that and keep me entertained.

i like how you implied to have some knowledge of my skills...LMAO you couldnt be more ignorant. Since you clearly dont know me, and i have no idea who you are, you must both suck donkey balls and have not competed at a high level in the prime of any tribes game.

i was skeptical of it when TV first came out, but after watching and playing vs 5150 i quickly saw how it could be utilized to totally jack chasers and get your speed off the charts...or at the very least make them work their ass off and stay out of position.

I thought it was a little gimmicky and just useful for something like cavern, but that was wrong.
again, you were never good at grapple chasing either. the fact you say things like "jack chasers" and "speeds off the charts" speak volumes of how ignorant you are about this aspect of t:v. its way more predictable than it was. people adapted. you didnt play long enough to understand. go back to your family. leave this kiddie video game stuff to morons like me who still play.

HAH! You probably dont even know who 5150 was. Im not wasting 1 more second talking to you.
5150:

This team deserves props for quickly adapting to "out of the box" Tribes: Vengeance and surpassing all competition during the first days of T:V.

Great job! No joke.

With that said, 5150 did not stick around for very long.

5150 played before the shield pack power was reduced and during a time when players had 15 grapples.

The days of T:V after 5150 are far more numerous than the days with 5150.

After 5150, competition became far different and required more skill than days of old. In the post-5150 era the power of the shield pack was dramatically lessened to the point that most players didn't even use it. Grapple ammo was reduced to 5. These are but a few changes. Because of these changes, players were forced to improve dramatically. Cappers might have, say about 3 grapples after making a grab instead of 13 or more. Big difference! Many players that played during these later times achieved great skill, and the best of them could easily smash good ol' 5150.

5150 were able to pick up the game faster than any other team during the first days of T:V. That says a lot, but it doesn't say everything, if you catch my drift.

5150's reign on TWL's T:V 7v7 CTF lasted what?... 12/05/04 to 02/27/05

... Kinda’ puts everything into perspective doesn’t it?

5150 can rot in history. They are not the be-all and end-all.

Jesus fucking christ.

You guys really dont know anything at all in here.
Was I off by a few weeks? My bad.

You get my overall point, and my point still stands.

5150 played for a very short time, and that short time was long ago.

Just sayin.

Yeah, within the context of the dead community that continued to play the game on the shit ass BEML ladder, those players had to adapt to the vanilla changes.

If it makes you feel good, you can say you were the tallest midgets, but without actually seeing what would have happened if teams like 5150 and 22 kept playing, don't you think it's a little retarded to assert the post-TWL community had better players?

It's all relative to the competition...I think if 5150 or 22 had stayed around and joined BEML (rofl) it would have been fucking laughable--you people act like those teams' skill levels would have remained stagnant while yours kept improving.

But we'll never know, so you can continue to pat yourselves on the back for dominating a field of players marked by powerhouses like sound_guy and john the jammer.

I mean this shit reads like an even more retarded version of a Blitz post circa 2006

5150 had "glory" in T:V for what amounted to a few months, and these few months were during the infancy of T:V.

Is it "retarded" to assert that the post TWL community had better players? Not at all judging actual skill level, but I do acknowledge your point that we will never know what might have been had 5150 stuck around for a bit longer.

What is "retarded" is arguing that 5150 is the paramount team of T:V.

Like I said, 5150 are not the be-all and end-all T:V team, and I will add that no one should speak of them as such.

5150 played 16v16 base T2 in like 2001. I'm sure T:V evolved and I'm sure players got better, but it's pretty silly to compare player group A with a few months experience in a game to what player group B is doing six years or so later.

Catch 22
ps: where are current elite demos?
Players did not get better
Oh and I somehow misread T:V as T2, oops, trivia knowledge++
virtual void triviaKnowledge( bool fail ) = 0;

5150 have a much longer and stronger history in T2 compared to T:V, and this is the likely reason they did so well during the first few months of T:V.

I will give it to Odio that there are far too many players that did not improve their game much, but this should not take away from the fact that a considerable amount of players did improve in the five years following 5150's departure. Stating otherwise is facetious.

~BIG BALLIN'
Their T2 history is not much longer than their T:V history. T2 was a pretty shitty game when it came out, just like T:V was and still is. They got tired of it pretty much just as fast as every other real Tribes player got tired of T:V.

Here we go again. Same-old-same-old. When losing a debate, let's pull out the "T:V sucks card." Let's use the "we're the REAL Tribes players card." I've heard these feeble arguments countless times by T1 and T2 players. I will not disagree that T:V greatly strayed from the path of the Tribes franchise, but note that this fact is beside the point pertaining to the argument that I have presented. Kryand, the argument that you have proposed is a red herring, at best. My point is that a few of the later teams in T:V were either just as good as 5150 or better than 5150. T:V players raised the skill bar for their game repeatedly after 5150's departure.

~BIG BALLIN'
I can sum up how SUPER AMAZINGLY AWESOME latter day tribes:vengeance teams were with one word: Prime!
remember when 5150 hadn't played for like 2 years after they left base, then came back and owned the base++ ladder. I'm sure the same thing would happen if they came back even 5 years later today.

Wait, you think you are winning this debate, just because it's your opinion? Haha. Why don't you attempt to prove it by posting some demos from these teams who you say were better than 5150.
