Yo wat up.....

Im from Tribes 2...... i want to buy counter strike i heard it still rocks most other games.... my only fear is that i heard there was alot of cheating etc.... Is this true and if so have you guys developed a patch to stop it .. that everyone plays with .

Counter-Strike is fun, if you play it with the right people.

Yes, cheating is rampant, and is really easy. A patch is supposedly in the works, but then again, it has been in the works for about 3 months and there hasn't been much evidence to prove that really anything is working.

I think Counter Strike is worth the $20.00 or what ever they are charging currently, especially if you compare it to the fifty that I had to shell out for Tribes 2. Historical I think the game has been associated with cheaters but with Sierra coming out with frequent updates for its anti cheat program “Valve Vac” as it has come to be known, works at countering any cheating. And the new patch that is coming out soon that “dna.hybris” commented on should help as well. Many of the “good” Counter Strike pub servers that I like to play in have participating admins that regularly play as well, and I’ve found that they are quite good at spotting possible hackers. I think Counter Strike is fun game, if played in the right place with the right people much like Tribes or any other online game that I have played. Though I like the game play of either Tribes game better then that of Counter Strike, I think that CS is still a good game and is worth the money.

Lol yeah i would have to say cheating is rampant but no where near as much as beta 6 or so. I would say go out and buy it cause most servers now people will end up kicked a cheater out of the server. most of the Servers i play on (Austrialn ones lol me being Aussie) dont have any cheaters but it all depends on what the server is and what there useing. Most of the Time HL Guard stops em from connecting and theres all the other Anti cheat stuff out there.

Hms i belive that we are all n00bs till we kick Vens Ass in a CS match :p.

Another Tribes 2 player. For some reason there are no real cheats for Tribes 2, but base, which WAS the only real strategic mod, besides Ninja mod, which is dead, is all but dead and classic is a nOObie mod. I play alot of CS now, definitely worth the price.

And what's a "nub" anyway?

Yeah in tribes 2 cheats are rarely seen if people do havum its not enough to effect the game play..... but cs is a kill counter terrorist befor they kill you or vica versa... as apposed to tribes 2 were the focus is getting the flag.... well either or sounds good im gonna buy it.....

Do i have to d/l the patches from a site or does it have the auto download like tribes 2 has..
to get the most recent patch....

O also is there an ingame community like in tribes chat rooms etc..?

You can download the Counter Strike patches from this web site http://www.counter-strike.net/ this web page makes it quite easy to download and update your version/copy of Counter Strike. That is really the best way to do it I have found. You can download all of the Counter Strike maps from Team Warfare’s downloads/files section. Unfortunately no Counter Strike has no in game community chat rooms or the like that Tribes has.

Cs is well worth the $15-$20 you spend to get it.....also considering I picked up tribes 2 (after only being out for a year) at $5 and cs is still going hard. Constantly updating and constantly working at anti cheats is all around. Yes cheating seems to be very evident in cs, but with the frequent admins visiting servers and different cheating protects, you'll know when you have a cheater, thus the admins take care of that.
