Unreal Tournament 2004 Patch 6 Release notes.
========================================================================

This patch is completely compatible with the retail version - servers and clients of any flavor can connect with each other.
This patch will not overwrite your ut2004.ini and user.ini files, except to update settings as necessary. This patch
includes all changes made in Patches 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5.

This patch should be installed *after* installing the Epic ECE Bonus Pack, as it updates some of the game code included
with the bonus pack.

General Gameplay:
- Fixed stuttering/snagging/sinking into static meshes in some places on clients in net games
- Improved getting out of water
- Fixed FaceClassic teleporter exploit
- The Cicada hud indicators should now show up in all game modes.
- Fixed SPMA causing damage at world origin.
- Fixed not being able to exit raptor when it's on the ground
- Fixed (for assault) the energy core always showing on the HUD even if it not the current objective (thanks AngelMapper)

Networking:
- Server performance improvements
- Cheating detection improvements, with shorter time for master server ban detection
- Integration of UTAN bans with UT2004 master server. Admins can opt out by adding bIgnoreUTANBans=true to [IpDrv.MasterServerUplink]
- Fixed potential garbage collection crash when changing levels during network games
- Improved caching of server data for when you can't connect to the master server.
- UTV updated (netspeed fix).
- Better Client->Server->MS Error Messages

Demo Recording:
- Added code to insure StopDemo is executed before a map change or game exit
- Remove 8x from the demo playback menu. The engine has problems with that speed.
- Fixed bug in Demo Playback menu that caused the Play/Pause button to be out of sync
- Added Demo playback jog keys to the console.
- Left Cursor slows down playback (1/4x -> 1/2x)
- Right cursor speeds ups playback (2x -> 4x)
- Up/Down cursor resets to 1x
- Disable by settings bDemoJogKeys=false in [XInterface.ExtendedConsole]

Engine:
- Improved level loading speed, especially on network clients
- Fixed calling SetBase(NULL) on all attached actors when an actor is destroyed

Editor:
- Fix for importing static meshes

Menus:
- Model select page now properly selects the current character when you open it.
- Korean localization updates.
- VCTF now appears in server browser, even if you don't already have any VCTF maps installed.
- Added code to sync the Stream (MP3) volume with normal music volume.

Just a heads-up. We won't update our server until it's TWL-approved.
actually causes problems for me and a few other ONS players...
If that's what's been causing the spinning raptor and loss of control tank, I'd say stay the hell away from it then. I also heard that it might have been a UTComp beta that was doing it.

UTCOMP 1.6 beta2 caused that... witnessed it last nite... my tank started dancing then levitating then finally started standing on its front end...
Has anyone ran into any patch problems?

Gametype and example would be helpfull when giving a response.

I have testd this patch on a server and it seemed to play fine with no lag.. It would be nice to keep up to date with patches as long as there are no bugs.. If you are experiencing anything please post so we can look for alternatives or keep things the way they are..
Has it been approved for use? The Omni vs SiK match was delayed until today (saturday) because AntiTCC was kicking people for using 3355. Omni is going to update AntiTCC's MD5s for the new patch so we can play tonight.
O_o
As of now, it has not been approved.

We are planning on giving it a little more time before we make everone use it. At least another week before we make a decision on this.

Once you do that, everything should be fine. I've been playing with the 3355 patch all weekend on Anti-TCC servers, and no problems. However, I'm not sure if the servers themselves were patched to latest or not.

I've noted no issues with 3355, though I'm seeing some server providers talk about CPU usage increases with the patch. That's about the only thing I've seen so far.
My clan runs it on our servers and I have also been using it since it was released and I have not noticed any issues either.

I haven't had time to check it out but Wormbo has AntiTCC118h running on his server now. Again it has no updated changelog and in this version Wormbo did away with the MD5 checks calling them "not really useful anymore". But it does contain the new class checks for 3355. If your server is kicking 3355 people disable class checks and just go ahead and delete the MD5's. Your going to have to do it anyway when you install TCC118h when approved here.

I've been holding off on patching, waiting for TWL to give this patch the green light. Any idea on when that might happen? Thanks.
End of this week.

I want to make sure that all the mods that we require work ok for everyone.

Seems to be a lot of complaints regarding increased cpu usage with the 3355 patch
which agrees with Torinir's statement.

There are also a couple of threads regarding same @

http://www.unrealadmin.org/

The "ataricommunity" is clear enough: this new patch just increase dramaticly CPU usage, and makes like the server is "laggy".
So, I personaly don't think it's a good idea to update servers and force admins to update their servers with this new patch.
Epic knows about complains and I am sure they won't take a long time to make a new patch to solve those patch's issues...
I won't personaly update my server and I hope TWL won't force us to update...
Just take a look at the Atari forum and u will see that some admins are meaning to return to the old patch (3339).
Bye
I feel TWL shouldn't require 3355. I patched on of our servers back to 3339 and it felt WAY better. FU Epic.
Has TWL reached a decision regarding this patch yet?
3355 bumps up the CPU usage on servers and machines. however, neither I, nor my server ahve run into any problems with 3355, and we've been runnin' almost all of the beta versions of UTComp1.6, and antitcc 1.18f. haven't upgraded that, gonna do ti when the FINAL utcomp1.6 comes out.
UTComp 1.6 is out now, and the readme file says it's recommended for clients updated to 3355 or higher. Granted, it's going to take a while for TWL to mandate UTComp 1.6, but I would very much like to see TWL make an official ruling on the 3355 patch, especially as a server administrator. I know you guys are busy, but it's getting close to a month since 3355 was released. Thanks.
I hope TWL will_not_require 3355 patch : the CPU usage issue. Clients and servers who revert to 3339 can feel the difference it makes.
