Features being added, bringing admins and players together to build the community
Here's wishing you the best for a healthy, happy and fruitful 2025 - cheers!
Using Chronophoto has turned out to be effective in going through the paces and revealing any functional issues with the ladder code, there's already been a handful of matches played (with pauses in between as we fix any issues). Things are going well and we'll be adding a few more testers to the ladder to increase the complexity that we're evaluating. We've rolled out and opened the rant boards (which are created for every match challenge, you can see them in discord). Another major addition is on-page resolution functions for ladder admins which makes things really convenient and is an exciting addition to the system. If you've got time to contribute testing and are interested in helping us grow please contact us in TWL Discord to join the queue. If you're curious you can check out the test ladder right now and cheer on your favourite time sleuths.
With the software having advanced to this point we've actively begun reengaging communities and potential ladder administrators. Each new ladder requires a chunk of work to build structures, rules and promotional material before we can broadly engage everyone and ultimately launch competitions. We've got a refreshed approach to building these assets (including a refactor of the original general TWL rules to help get started faster) and the bandwidth to collaborate and get things going. As with most of these things we're using our discord to organize, team up and get to it. If you're interested in getting involved, please join and let us know!
With many ongoing discussions we've also discovered that there are a lot of us with the same things in common: many communities are game-specific, there's a lot of gamers that like to try playing multiple games without having to commit to these groups. There are also several of us that are open to the idea of casually getting together on a regular calendar date to be able to group up in semi ad hoc ways. With new (free!) releases like Delta Force, Marvel Rivals and Deadlock that clearly benefit from teamwork we'll be looking at providing more opportunities for these experiences and hosting casual sessions to bring us together. Fire up that microphone and get ready to play, the action is in Discord, we'd love to have you there and more folks getting together and remebering the good TWL times.
