Introduction
Chronophoto is a web-based game that presents you with 5 random photos taken between today and 1900 and asks you to guess what year they were taken in, awarding more points the more accurate you are.
Requirements
You need to create or join a team in order to compete, click on teams and read more about them or hit the create team button and start your own.
Ladder movement
- Every new team gets added to the bottom of the ladder
- Teams can only challenge teams above them that are 'open' (unchallenged)
- Teams can only challenge 10% or 5 spots above their rung, whichever is greater
- The challenger is considered 'away', the challenged is considered 'home'
- If home team successfully defends its rung, neither team moves on the ladder
- If home team loses, away team takes the rung and home team is placed directly below away team
Challenges
- When a team challenges a team above them a match is created
- The match must be played within 72 hours of the challenge being initiated
- Teams are responsible for arranging their own match time
- All arrangements must be done in the provided Discord channel or else they will not be recognized
- Failure to arrange a match results in both teams going down a rung
The match
- The winner is determined as being the person with the highest score after 5 photos
How to start
- Both contestants should go to https://chronophoto.app
- Select the "Party" option or go to https://chronophoto.app/party.html
- Enter the password that was agreed upon during match comms
- Play the game
Reporting the match
- A screenshot is required from both players of the final score screen
- This screenshot should be placed in the match comms channel
- When this is done your admin will verify the results and resolve the challenge

How can I find a team?
Finding a team can be a very rewarding experience, the easiest way to get started is to socialize in our Discord while staying tuned to happenings within it as well as scrimmages, match results and more. It can take time and it can take a few tries as well, if you're looking for more advice you can always check #channel-name as well as ask ladder admins and team captains and owners.
What's a rant board?
Rant boards are discussion rooms that are created when a match challenge is accepted, they last until the match is resolved after which point they are permanently deleted. They are a no-holds-barred area that is not moderated (aside from adherence TWL Terms of Service) and often used for predictions, good wishes and jeers.
