Sick and Tired

I'm sooooo sick and tired of getting kicked for high ping on servers.
I've been playing online games for 4 years, and if there's one thing I know it's that high ping has NOTHING to do woth server lag.
Was in a DC server yesterday, and these guys were going on about ping and lag...I had to laugh!!!
There are some of us that, because of no fault of our own, have 56k connections and high pings.
How bout letting us play instead of most servers being a "low ping only" club.

But, you see, it IS your fault for having a 56k

Not sure what to tell ya, todays games require a lot of bandwidth, amounts that a 56k simply cannot handle.

Nonsense.
I play Tribes2/Q3A/BF1942 and have no real major issues, besides the occasional ping timeout.
As far as my having a dail-up connection...not my fault.
I live in the country and don't have access to cable.
I'm not gonna sell my house and move my wife and three kids to town just to play video games.
How bout less anal server admins?

correct me if im wrong here...but server side lag is not the issue...the issue would be the PPoE side of this being that the server will run at the highest ping to allow for you the dialup customer to keep with the game...the time it takes a 56ker to get the packet is slower than the rest on cable/dsl, therefore the game will run slower as to allow for this....but i could be wrong. For the record: Our servers are set to kick ping 350ms

and yes...move the family to accomindate your gaming needs. whats wrong with you man? no dedication?

Haha, I understand, I grew up in the sticks as well

I'm not sure why server admins care of a 150-200 pinger is playing on the server. Problem is, its the spikes that generally get you kicked ("player has exceeded ping of 300 for X times"). I agree, its pretty silly, but not much we can do about it

You can always try the .:. server I dont believe theres a ping limit set on it.

Oh, and DC is more of a bandwidth hog then T2/Base BF1942 (and WAY more then q3). Faster vehicles/etc mean more packets of info to send. T2 just had much better netcode, thats all

No kidding.
That's y i DONT fly planes and choppers....almost impossible with 56k.
But any of the ground vehicles are just fine.
I get plenty of kills with a tank.
