In an effort to try and make the world clean of cheaters, the guid fields for TWL will now only accept 8 character hexidecimal guids. In the near future, we will be stepping up the inspection of these guids in your player profile.

I highly recommend that everyone check their guid an make sure that an 1 is not entered as a lower case "L" l or any other non valid character. If our admins review your roster and find an invalid guid, that player will be removed from your roster so that a new guid will have to be entered. Don't cause your team to be down a man because you cannot take the time to enter a guid correctly.

Team Founders are not required to fill in a guid if they are in a multi-gaming clan, but they are ineligble for play until a valid guid is entered.

The community's assistance is appreciated in clearing these oversights or typos up.

is this a good guid number... I never entered it, it entered itself in when I played.
I am afraid I dont understand, does this mean the 8 digits I had to enter already are now invalid? how do I generate the new 8? and if they are the same old ones... why this odd post? I don't get something here.

Your guid appears to be legal, you just entered the full 32 bits which is not required.

No, for some people this will not be an issue. When the guid system was first put in here at TWL it allowed what we now know are illegal alphanumeric characters to be entered. If your guid was entered the first time correct, as yours appears to be, you dont have to change anything.

Thanks for checking.
uhhhmmm.... yeah. i'm a little confused here. how does the guid become less valid when a person puts 10 charecters or even the whole guid charecter set in? to say someone is invalid because somebody else decides they can't read the last 8 charecters out of the 10 given, seems pretty strange.
in other words - if i give you the last 10 - and you say you only need the last 8 - haven't i given you what you need? and then some? all you got to do is ignore the first 2...! what in math hell am i missing? i wouldn't want to see a match get decided because of this. please respond with the the info missing from my small primate brain. thanks-!
Simple. If you are a new player and you try to enter the last 10 of your GUID, you will get an error and not be allowed to do so. If you try to enter the last 8, and those last 8 do not exist anywhere else in the BF42 GUID listing at TWL, you will be allowed to enter it and move on.

Everything works off of the last 8, so we want the last 8. Not the last 10, not the last 11, not the last 7, but the last 8.

So that's the last 8 digits, starting from the right and working left? And it needs to be 8 digits, right? :-)

As I posted above, a 32 char guid is not invalid, just unnecessary.

What makes a guid invalid is the characters used to post it.
ok - so basically some people have the first 8 or 10 charecters as opposed to the last? i have some players that put in the entire charecter set - do you want me to ask them to change it? or are they eligable to play?
To be eligeble to play they should at a minimum have the last 8 digits entered. Run pb_pblist, that shows the last 8 they need. Last 8 digits on the right.

Let me clarify a couple things.

1. You can have more than 1 guid so if you have to repair a misentered guid its no problem to add a second correct guid. Just don't get caught with no guid as you will be removed from the roster.

2. Entering all 32 characters is ok. If you did this, you dont have to do anything else.

I have the member wannaby's pb_myguid number, where do i type it in?
the numbers they gave me were
acb3b5e3f678f8c15b58ec19a3d645460

Do i enter the first eight or the last eight numbers? and where do i enter it so that they can be a member? Do i type it in or do they? They tried to join and typed in the password. it said that they needed a guid number. do i type it in or do they? please help me.

Ok i think i got it other than the fact as to where the enter the last 8 digits. i think that they type it in on their profile. but where the heck do they type it in.
in the box labled Anti-Smurf In Game Identifiers click the add id in yellow and enter the last 8 of the guid.
ok i understand that now but do they have to register a team in order to do that, because if not, i dont know how to get to that screen? ty for your help so far.

And also i am wondering how to create my own server for my clan.i mean like one that has its own ip address and is like permenant. so i dont have to pick like every map to play and the name of it every time i wanna load it. Plz help. ty
you have to rent one or buy one then host the game from that box. Or if you have a spare computer, set it up and run it as your server for 4-8 people.
