Match acceptance Protocal and forfeits

Historical capture recovered from the Wayback Machine · captured 2005-01-22 · 10 posts
Hiya,

Some of you are getting dropped rungs and receiving forfeits on the ladders and wondering why.

As explained in the rules section once a challenge is issued the defender has 48 hours to accept the challenge if he/she does not. They forfeit and get dropped rungs.

Negotiating a date in match coms is taken into condideration on this as well. Please note that Xfire, MSN, MIRC or voice coms logs are not acceptable forms of official match coms when sorting match issues in between teams before a match. aAll agreements must be posted in the match coms and agreed to by both teams.

We will only consider what is posted in match coms in your admin panel when reviewing prematch disputes or checking for challenge acceptance.

Once the match is accepted and two dates picked the attacker also has 48 hours to respond if not he/she forfeits as well and loses rungs.

This policy is in place to keep the ladder from getting stagnant and moving at a smooth pace.

In addition NO FLAMING in match com panels violaters will cause their team to lose rungs in the ladder as well.

If you are still not clear on this email your admin or contact them on Mirc.

Regards,

In after tool-sores
What about reporting losses? I know there is a 1 hour time limit...but it has been loosely enforced...
The losing team has one hour to either report the loss or file a dispute. Unfortunately due to the late end times of most games through the week you wont find me on IRC past 11pm EST. Simply file a dispute, giving links to the screenshots of the end scores, and if by morning the team has still not reported I will handle it. It will never go past that sort of time frame unless I am out of town (and in which case Grassy will know and handle it himself) or deathly ill.
What is the penalty of not reporting a loss in a timely manner? I suggest a ladder drop to the bottom for those who do not comply.
The norm for a team not reporting a loss or disputing within the one hour time frame (and it is verified) is a loss in rungs.

The only way to verify though, is to get with an admin on IRC right when the hour is up, or to file a dispute. Like stated above, due to the late hour end time of some matches, admins may or may not be available during this time. However, if a match is still not reported in the morning, and you have filed a dispute about it, it is fairly obvious.

Does that clear it up some for you? If not, please find me on IRC this evening and I'll be more than happy to discuss it with you or anyone.

From the rules: "Match results will be reported no later than 1 HOUR after the conclusion of a match. Failure to do so on the first infraction will result in a drop of 10 rungs down the ladder. A 2nd infraction may result in a team being dropped from the ladder. Teams will have the opportunity to rejoin if removed, but will have to start at the bottom. Infractions of this rule are left at the discretion of the admins and may vary depending on the circumstances."

Some advice I'd throw out there is:

a) Get in to the habit of getting to the web site right after the match to report the results immediately.
b) Print a copy of the rules (recycled paper pwnz) and keep them close to you during matches. It'll save you the pain of having to alt-TAB out, open a browser, etc.
Yep.. that works great and makes a lot of sense.
